My son has never been interested any kind of racing, but after this happened, he couldn’t stop texting me clips from all the camera angles and reactor videos. He was asking if this kind of stuff happens all the time. I told him no…that’s what makes incidents like this so special. Growing up in the 70s Cale was my hometown hero and gave the 1st nationally televised race the 79' daytona 500 just what nascar needed to be viable with that finish/fight with bobby allison. In the 80's as boy scout nascar would let scouts in for free if we wore our uniforms. The year was 82' or 83' my 1st race attended the crc rebel 500 darlington. Cale fights back all day from a lap down and is beat by inches by an upstart dale earndhart! Fast forward 87' winston all star race and the now infamous pass in the grass! The 3 car just made #9 car look like a clown! Can you see where im going with this? Last week the#1 formally owned by dei with its farmers son driver whos been on evertbodys shit list ross chastain puts his main naysayer denny im gay hamlin out final four with that never say die bonzai move! Well cales long since retired, dale is watchn down with that grin and ive got my third wheelman driver in my lifetime to cheer for! Headline makers like this dont often appear but hear he is yal!

i personally done things in cars i cant say in public..... nearly died countless times. watching sports win - loose i never give a shit. i dont get excited. Family call me Eeyore. Even this puts a smile on my face..... 24 hours later watching it for over an hour vids combined. it just a combination of cool factor, and nothing to loose go get em attitude. nascar needs to remove playoff format, Penalize the winner of the race for wrecking the leader...imo should of gotten a DNF and car he wrecked got the W. they need to NOT come up with any rules to prevent this type of stunt from coming up again.

It should not matter if he crossed the line backwards or sideways it still should count and Nascar needs to leave it alone. I have been around racing for over 60yrs and remember when Richard Petty use to run so close to the wall he scrapped a lot of the paint off the car. He found out it he run really close to the wall he could run faster on the bigger tracks although he always said after each race he done it to keep from wrecking as bad so the wall would cushion the hit. So Nascar let them race since racing first started with run what you drove to the race and then went bigger and faster. Somewhere you just have to race and let the chips fall where they may.
