This is most beautiful timepiece I have ever seen. It is uplifting too; to know that the true watchmaker & mistress are still contributing to the practical & asthetic of the world. My first Jaeger Le coultrer is one that belonged to my father. A simple, elagant design. Self wind caliber, in a rose gold case. 60 years' old. My most recent an "autometer ". Lovely complications. I will never afford to own this marvel but, like all lovers of the great timepieces; it warms my heart to know they exist. Thank you for the wonderful video & explanation.

This is mind blowing, absolutely fantastic hand craftsmanship and one of a kind. I have seen many complicated watches during the years, but this watch stands out in the design and extremely beautiful clockwork visible from the see-through case back. This watch is so painstakingly beautiful, such an incredibly insane masterpiece, I literally shed a tear of joy and amazement during this explanation! All the various features on their own would have already made the watch incredible, but to have built a watch with a flying gyrotourbillon, perpetual calendar and not just a minute repeater, but a Westminster repeater, all with these extra incredibly complicated additional small improvements like setting back the date, skipping the minute repeater, skipping the date over the gyrotourbillon etc. etc. and that all in a form which comfortably would fit on the wrist. I am truly perplexed. Chapeau JLC, chapeau indeed.

Certainly not. Materials, manufacture and assembly costs less than $5,000. A 100% mark up to compensate for R&D is more than fair, for a retail price of $10,000. The rest a combination of market manipulation and wealth disparity.
@DebEternity
@DebEternity 4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't be so sure... Jacob & Co. currently have a watch in their inventory with 2 gyrotourbillon and a minute repeater... For that watch they're asking around half a million dollars, which is half of what Jaeger LeCoultre is asking... I understand that there's a huge history behind Jaeger LeCoultre but does that history justify twice the price for half the watch (figuratively)...?

@@ludmillamantovanni9073 FYI: R&D stands for research and development (as stated @ 100% markup). Alexander welcome back, and WOW did you come back with an incredible watch. It is now my top watch. Tell your camera man he did an incredible job of showing this watch. While you were talking I was mesmerized by the Gyrotourbillion. At one point I yelled over to my Alexa unit and asked it to give me a comparison of it weight and as best as I am with metric measurement it weights the same as two grains of rice. The watch simply is flawless. If I owned it I would never take it off except to shower, why take a chance:))))). I will probably watch the video a few more times, I didn't process all the information. The darn Gyrotourbillion so captured my attention I missed a lot of the Blah Blah Blah LOL. Your best watch vid yet that I have seen. I have three watches on my list for purchase this year. I'll probably only be able to swing one. One is a JLC. You just made up my mind. Mine will be around 10,000 US.

Robert, first of all thank you for the feedback! I will pass over the compliment to Jorge, one of my two cameramen. We tried our best to capture what was possible with a camera ... I am glad to read here that many of you guys around the world like what we did and do. Two grains of rice!?!? Imagine! And the Gyro cage is made out of 96 parts. Now try to imagine how light some of them are ... Crazy! I don't want to assemble such tiny pieces... What really touches me is that you are going to invest in a new wristwatch and I was able to help you to make up your mind. If you need further assistance to find/buy your JLC please check out www.watchadvisor.com , our website. There even concierge-service is an option... So if you want/need more advice please let me know... To buy and collect wristwatches is simply big, big fun. Every time later you look at your watch it will remind you of the many good and happy hours (= time ) it showed you before ...

Ive just shown 2 of my friends this absolutely beautiful and astonishing watch. It seems to capture all of a persons attention when viewing, so much so that i find it difficult and disappointing when i look away. I am a machinist by trade so i appreciate mechanical asthetics and function. Ive wondered for many years how these watches were made and put together. The deburring alone must be a nightmare and i would imagine a magnet would be a watchmakers worst enemy. Finally, ive gotta ask, why couldnt this watch and similar others be made to be much more waterproof? My assumption being that a watch of this caliber would be made to be virtually impenetrable given its level of technicality and attention to detail along with the companys constant pursuit of perfection coupled with its focus on being the very best. I guess in my ignorance i just dont understand the difficulties and fine nuances one encounters in making a watch waterproof however its my belief that a watch of this incredible mechanical and technical magnitude should also be "incredible" in its water resistance. I mean, with it having the "best of this" and the " best of that" ( for lack of better words) id imagine a similar level of attention would or should be given to the watchs water resistance. If anybody can give me a satisfactory explanation that cant be easily refuted it would be greatly appreciated. And by," cant be easily refuted" ill give an example such as," its difficult to do because they can only tighten it just so much" to which id say, then why not add a rubber O-ring. Basically id love an explanation that satisfies the technical question of waterproofing a watch. If anybody is privy to the solution to my question id love and welcome your reply. Thanks.

Granted.....I am no watch maker by any means, but an enlarged mechanism like this instead of a pendulum would be amazing. I just might give it a whirl. Won't be any complications other than the chimes, and the calendar, but it would definitely be fun, and talk about a show stopper........thanks for sharing your amazing knowledge. = ) Edit; maybe have it trip a music box instead of chimes. = )

If they use so many different types of computers to develop and design and build all the tiny parts. How come it cost so much???😹 I do realize that they take some hand work to finish up all the little part inside. Now don’t get me wrong. I really really think these watches are some of the nicest and cleanest most amazing working pieces of art out their today’s market. I have a unique early Glashutte panoramic watch. I bought it when they first showed the watch at the convention. Three months later I had my baby delivered. To this day it still runs like a champ and stands out as unique. I also love F.P. Journe watches the most but I could never afford to even look at one. You can buy a cheap plastic watch that works just as good for $15-20 dollars. Now I know flat out that those cheap plastic watches look like a joke I get it. But not that many people out there can pay stupid money even if I could I just don’t get it?
@WatchAdvisor
@WatchAdvisor 5 жыл бұрын
With the aid of computers you can’t lower the price of such a watch. There are so many factors included from the very first R&D to the final assembly (after several pre-assemblies and at least one entire assembly was done before the everything is dismantled again) that that little aid of one or several computers changes nothing. Such a watch is conceived and built by watchmakers and only the very best watchmakers can make such a ticking miracle happen... And then do not forget it’s also a piece of art and art has no price...

@@WatchAdvisor Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Chronograph Calendar. The reason is, that wrist watch appeared in a korean comic that I read. I like that comic so much and want something in real life that related with it. So, it's more about sentimental value and not about how the watch work itself. But the watch cost about $35.000 in real life, so maybe it's not for me for now lol. The comic itself is the main reason I started to have interest in luxury watch.
