This blows away any other watch I've ever seen. JlC is about pure substance and elegance, no gimmicks. It's a work of art that no other watch can match; like in any authentic work of art, it seems more driven by the inner vision of the artist, and the dream of seeing that vision realized. By this standard, even Patek and Lange (great as they are, esp. Lange) seem completely market-driven.

So, what happens when the perpetual calendar gets to AD 2100 - there doesn't seem to be a changeable second digit! My JLC Cal 470 is nearly 80 years old and is still going strong. It will last another 200 years if looked after. It would be nice if pocket watches came back in fashion. Just think what JLC could do now with a bit more space! 30 years ago I had a 1900 LeCoultre minute repeater movement for a while, with day, date and moonphase. It worked quite well and the minute repeater had a fine sound, but it needed a case making and that was going to be too expensive. It wasn't much bigger than the gyrotourbillon is now, and thinner.

One of my favorites from SIHH 2019 but a little confused on how the quarters on the minute repeater works.

It's indeed a tecnological masterpiece. It would be art if somehow those engineers/designers used different materials/colours for different parts. It would be more pleasing to watch those parts move like an art. To me A. Lange & Söhne makes the most beautiful movements to look at, bacause of the delicate contrast of the parts.

For those wondering why the hammers weren't moving this was only a prototype the sound you hear was taking from JLC's computerized image played over the watch.
@WatchAdvisor5 жыл бұрын
We had two issues with this video... one was it was extremely noisy and we couldn’t record a good sound file. So I asked JLC to provide me a recording. When editing the video we did not have the time to synchronize both... the watch and the recording, too much stress at SIHH. I can tell you that the watch actually worked, but to do such filming under such conditions is difficult. Please check the BREGUET video. This one is the way I want to do these things...

What means to wear wristwatch? A WRISTWATCH IS AN ESSENTIAL TOOL that shapes the way its wearer experiences and perceives time. Watches can also serve as a fashion statement, a symbol of wealth, or a grim reminder of impending appointments throughout the up-and-coming day. Regardless of the style of watch, people who wear watches are seen as dependable and reliable. To others, seeing a watch on someone's wrist says that that person is punctual and values not only his or her time but other people's time. After all, time is money, friend.
