Aw, Lennon is such a sweet and patient girl. Thank you for taking such good care of her. Some things I’ve found helpful for my senior babies that might also benefit Lennon. Oxbow Urinary Tract treats. Dandelion for appetite and digestion. Ginger goes well with turmeric for pain relief, but it is a diuretic so it may affect her kidneys. Myofascial release therapy (MFR) helps significantly with pain relief. Heating pads also help with pain. Some vet clinics also carry a CBT cream that can go on the inside of the ear for pain relief. Have the vet check her teeth regularly bc the sugar they add to those pain meds can cause cavities. They end up needing to get their teeth shaved down which ends up ruining their whole diet and causes digestive problems and the need for more pain meds. It’s a whole thing that becomes cyclical, so just keep an eye on her teeth. Maybe feed the sugary meds before she eats hay or other things that could clean her teeth afterward.
@normal4810Ай бұрын
There's such thing as self heating pads too!
@AceKaciАй бұрын
Oh yeah, obviously keep the cords away, but you already know that. There are microwaveable heating pads, or you can put electric ones under something else like one of those cushioned beds, to keep her from chewing on it or digging it up. There are ones that can massage too or you could look into far infrared so she wouldn’t have to be right on it. I get ones with safety features built in. Biggest thing would be limiting her time on a heating pad since you don’t want her to get dehydrated, but 10-30 mins occasionally can just help relax everything, especially right before a massage or MFR treatment.

I love your adjustments to her litter box! Our old Dutch girl had arthritis so we swapped the deep litter trays for plant potting trays - although she has since passed, they're now the perfect size for our current bunnies, who are much bigger. This type of tray has deep sides/back but a nice low lip at the front so the buns can easily step in and out of it. Sending love to you both. ❤

Lost my two boys back to back a few months ago. They were four and three. Genetics robbed them of a long life but you helped so much in helping me give them the best life adter I adopted them. This video was so great. Especially showing a chronically ill bun running around and exercising. This is do important and a lot of people should know they can't let them just sleep all day and get more sedentary. Showing a bum bath is great. I suggest maybe a detail vid on that and cutting fur around genitals because I was really nervous when I had to do it and there really isn't a lot of senior/ill bun vids out there. Def taking notes on that ramp for the future. Those that need chew proof washable rugs. Ikea does natural ones so you can rest easy if your kids will eat holes in them sometimes. You still want to monitor them for impactions if they eat too much at once. My kids would eat my fridge if I let them... Gracias por todo mi niña. Tu preciosa esta en las mejores manos ❤

Wonderful care of a loved older bunny. We started this journey last year. Our biggest wins (aside from an excellent vet) has been a small infrared light for at home arthritis easing and a heating pad. The heating pad is made by Farm Innovators for chickens, a hard plastic pad with low constant heat. Our rabbit LOVES the heating pad, sleeps on it daily and moves much better, especially during weather changes that used to cause her to stiffen up. I'd suggest a heating pad to anyone with an arthritic bunny.

oh how lucky Lennon is to have you Lorelei! Brings me memories to taking care of my rabbit Tommy. Your rags are so beautiful, I just put carpet everywhere on my apartment and my rabbit was having accidents everywhere which for that I bought vacuum called Little Green. Was very easy to take care of the accidents. Everytime he'd go on a slippery floor he was so uncomfortable and falling, I was scared he'd break something so carpet was a better solution for me. Though it's definitely little ugly, your rags are gorgeous. I'm in love with the litterbox!! And the ramp😍😍😍you're so creative! That definitely should be a HOP product💖Senior rabbit litter box. Thank you for this! My Buddy is 12 and has arthritis. He’s on metacam & gabapentin. But I’m going to ask the vet about some of the sups you mentioned. I did get him an Assisi loop that seems to help too. We also have to do regular teeth trimmings at the vet too as he gets sharp spots that create sores in his mouth that causes him to slow down on eating that then causes tummy issues. Apparently this is also not uncommon in older buns. He’s worth it all ❤

My Sophie passed at 9 and a half, so I am getting very nervous. He still zooms and binkies and his appetite is endless. I’m definitely getting a full work up of every test imaginable at his next geriatric bunny exam. Might have to start adding blueberries more regularly!

She's such a perfect angel taking her meds. And it's a very helpful video. It shows what you need to think of. My bunny is 7 and I know that there will be a day when I'll need to start giving him supplements, right now he seems okay, but he hates any syringe near his face. He's absolutely okay with needles and shots, he just hates stuff put in his mouth. Could you do a video of tips how to convince bunny to take meds? Or did Lennon just wanted to take them like that?
