The professionalism of your flying is inspiring! The consistency and thoroughness of your checklist use has made me improve my own. When I see you check the controls free and correct I'm often reminded of the 2014 Gulfstream crash that occurred because the crew didn't bother to check that and ran off the end of the runway with the gust lock engaged.

Thanks for the kind words! Honestly, this whole KZbin thing has turned into a lot more than I thought it would. I love all aspects of it from filming, editing, to reading the comments and answering questions. Part two should be up tomorrow.

Silly question, why are the below 80kts calls "Abort"? all the B727/A320 time in the UK over 30 years we used the word "Stop" or "Go" if the failure was after V1. It seems to me less syllables would be better. I am just curious. I'm a fan of your videos too.

If I would to retitle this, it would be "Over the radio, inflight emergency? Returning to Houston" You're videos are awesome and love watching them. You have no reason to make a "Click Bait" thumbnail. At the beginning, it seemed that Capt. Lori had the hiccups. Am I correct? Again, love your vids. Learning allot.

Really like what your doing in all your vids. This one even better with all the close up's of the panel and yoke. In this one though you are using the call sign of the aircraft instead of Air Shares. Was this due to a type of mission ? Thanks (And Hi) to Captain Lori too. I know the ladies are a small segment of this industry and always good to see them fulfill there passion in aviation.

When we fly international we use the N# of the aircraft. From what I’ve been told, Mexico doesn’t understand what fractional 91K is. You’re either a commercial operator or private. For this reason we fly internationally part 91 using the N#. Thanks for the great question! Lori is awesome, she’s one of my best friends who I look forward to flying with every time.

Love the videos. Keep them coming! Question: I've noticed that your crew doesn't engage autopilot until quite a ways. Is there a reason for that? I expected that aircraft to be flying on NAV pretty much after rotating
@ThorNjord6 жыл бұрын
Awesome videos thanks so much for producing and sharing them! Quick suggestion. Maybe it’s possible, without adding to your current setup, to record a pilot’s voice only track? That way you could lower ATC volume when you are talking because sometimes I just can’t make out what you are saying.
@IllFlyIt6 жыл бұрын
I used to record separately but this problem still persists. The Phenom’s radios don’t have a very strong side tone. That’s how you hear yourself when talking. Some are better than others thought. One option I’ve considered is using another Nflightcam cable to record on a second GoPro. Then I’d I have 2 audio tracks that I could mix and blend for better quality. Thanks for the suggestion and for watching!

Why would use not use Merida also for an engine/decomp alternate? wouldn't it be closer than Cancun? Also why use HOU for the return instead of GLS/BPT? Especially as they are closer to land from HOU. Just curious as always, would think the closest usable airport would be used for ETPs
@IllFlyIt6 жыл бұрын
That’s a good question. We use a handler to compute the ETP’s and they seem to always choose HOU/MMUN as the alternates for crossing the Gulf. If we go out over New Orleans then they’ll use MSY. I’m thinking it’s putting priority on airports that are equipped for international arrivals (aka customs available 24/7) and that are closest to the course flown.
@keepingupwiththejoneses11446 жыл бұрын
albird87, I noticed that too. Why do they go back to Houston. Is it the size of the aircraft they are in. I know they use a smaller airport when international flights have an emergency they'll use the closet airport to land. Just curious.
@jimbeck32306 жыл бұрын
Couldn’t you have put these go/return points into the system before takeoff? Just asking.
@IllFlyIt6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question Jim. You’re correct, we could have had them loaded prior to departure. We don’t have a set procedure on when to do them. The only requirement is that they are loaded and displayed. I liked doing them while in cruise if I have time because it helps to pass some time and confirm the inputs with the other pilot. Thanks for the question.

Does that Phenom not have a button for the radio on the yoke? At least on the FO side?
@semperflyer7976 жыл бұрын
it's the button that is marked "PTT" push to talk
@andrewhontz33276 жыл бұрын
Was looking like he's using a button on the glare shield instead
@semperflyer7976 жыл бұрын
most jets do have a PTT button on the dash so that the pilot flying isn't fighting the pilot monitoring, who usually runs the radios and the checklist, for control of the yoke when they're flying by hand. that's why you see him using the one not located on the yoke while she's flying the plane.
@andrewhontz33276 жыл бұрын
Ahhh great point, thank you! Feels like most videos I've watched of two-pilot ops, the PM just uses the yoke button.
