I love brown recluse! I had a sweet interaction with one when I was in army basic training. I had fallen asleep during a field training exercise and woke up to a recluse just chilling on my thigh, using my warmth to get their own sleep on. We had been warned about how "vicious" they were (my basic training was in Missouri, btw), but this little buddy just wanted to get warm. 😅

@@tarantulakat why not recommend to let it live outside where it belongs, instead of suggesting to capture a wild animal just so tim is not so bored?
@tarantulakat6 ай бұрын
@@blindshellvideos because catching a jumping spider on your own property and keeping it as a pet shouldn’t be villainized when we have thousands of people squishing them on site or spraying their entire properties down with pesticides killing all life. As long as all laws are followed it’s not very damaging to take a spider from your own house inside, and it’s a fantastic way to get people into keeping spiders or at minimum appreciating/respecting them
@blindshellvideos6 ай бұрын
@@tarantulakat ty answer. yes that argument is fair but is there some way that one can actually know if the spider is happy (since their intellect is limited probabyl) or will it be sad because its deprived of e.g. mating.

I dont know if I am ready for a recluse. My dad got bitten by one on his leg. He had a huge hole that had to be packed till it healed. I will just happily watch for updates from you for now.
@Fahrenheit40515 ай бұрын
I'm all set with recluses. They're very cute, but I just don't think it's worth it. Spitting spiders (Scytodidae) are close relatives, and are not dangerous. Same eye pattern, plus gorgeous markings. They catch their prey by shooting silk from their chelicerae, and it's very fascinating to watch them hunt, even if the strands are too small to see. Certain species may be able to be housed communally, but I would of course check with an expert before attempting this. I have two spitting spiders, named Jordan and Jalapeño.

I saved and released a Brown Recluse last year. She was hanging out on my ceiling and I saw her when I woke up. I felt like she was a very polite spider, as she could have walked right onto us while we were sleeping from me stupidly leaving the window open, but instead she went completely around us and chose to chill on the ceiling. So I put her in a cup and put her back outside.

Jack's World of Wildlife has some awesome brown recluse content. He gave himself a bite on two seperate occasions and has two videos on each, regular and extended versions, and he documents the experience over the course of the healing process. It took a lot of effort for him just to get the spiders to bite, and the wounds were rather mild.

After watching your channel, I always feel bad dispatching them, but I’ve been bit in my bed by one and it was NO FUN!! Their bites can cause huge necrotic areas. There was a spider on the floor a few feet away from me a few weeks ago while I was sitting in my chair and it was looking in my direction. When I got up to approach it, it immediately started running away extremely fast and it went under my tv stand out of sight. Then a few minutes later I saw it again in the same spot looking in my direction. I got up again to approach it and it ran away extremely fast once again. Was this spider curious about me ? I don’t know what species it was because I’m not well versed in spiders. It was a small spider too.
@damagedgearhead83036 ай бұрын
It could be a jumping spider since I do know that jumping spiders are very curious species but are also shy and will run away if a human approaches them
@animallover70726 ай бұрын
@@damagedgearhead8303 I don’t think it was that because it was brown in color and its legs were longer than a jumping spiders. And jumping spiders move like the speed of light, this spider was fast, but you could still see its legs moving because it was moving at a normal speed even though it was still fast.
