You have to understand Street vendor's don't buy in bulk like the shops do, so you're definitely going to pay more. Also amusement park vendors will charge more they have to pay more to purchase their goods because they buy in smaller quantities. That's the case all over the world 😊🇯🇲🇺🇲

I saw you visited Cane River falls with your Japanese escorts. I had never been there while in Jamaica. There are so many get away areas. True to say I'm from Jamaica but never been everywhere. I knew for sure that I enjoyed most areas of my island country like hiking up to the Peak of the Blue Mountain, Blue lagoon and Somerset falls of Portland, the volcanic hot water springs of Bath St. Thomas, some of the beaches south and north coast and also Negril Westmoreland to the west. Somehow as always there will be areas on impossibilities to explore while on earth even in one's own country. The bunch of green grapes like cluster of fruits you held in your hands while returning from Cane River Falls are called guinep in Jamaica and others names elsewhere in the Caribbean and South America. At the initial stages of your recording the old building in Kingston you focused on is the Ward Theatre. I don't know whether it's still active but for sure it's historic for being a place where local dramas, dance and other performance actives (pantomime) etc. used to showcase. My first experience being there was watching an African dance troupe out of Nigeria performing there during the 1970's of my youth. Bargaining was clear cut, the best choice while buying fruits etc. to avoid being overcharged. Unless you're in a hurry the taxi is the better choice getting to your destiny quicker. Also, from downtown where you got that taxi you could have taken one of the large yellow buses at a lesser rate and did more video coverage while going to Halfway Tree on one of those larger buses nearby. If only you had asked one of those commuters standing nearby or lining up to point out which of those larger buses were going to Halfway Tree. Even by asking the driver of those larger buses to assist in getting off at the right stop, they will do. One Love❤.

Those of us who have tried to learn a language start with simple phrases and practice. NOTHING wrong with trying to learn patios. It ias not just BROKEN ENGLISH but is made up of several words from West African Languages with some Irish phrases and pronunciation please go and study it look at structure etc. Its much more than broken English this is what we were taught...Look at Louise Bennett's work she refers to as the Jamaican language. Everyone knows English is the first language but Patios is of great significance in the Jamaican culture. There is lot of snobbery about this means of communication in the higher classes in Jamaica yet they reap the benefits from tourism as many foreigners are interested in Jamaica due to the music and rastas who mainly communicate in patios.

You are so right Ms Pat. It is more than “ broken English”. It’s a very rich language… I had to give lectures in England on the richness/ the make up of the dialect.

@@normacoote9856Jamaican Patois is derived from English with many mispronunciations and shortening of words; joining 2 or 3 words to make one, eg Wha (what), gwa (going) aan (on). = ‘what’s going on’. Hence it is primarily ‘broken’ English! There may be one or two ‘African’ words but they’re mainly names of things, and do not form a part of the ‘language’!
