Oh... thank you so much for saying this! I wish more people would be aware of this and I hope this video finds it's way. :)

Big Tech, Goverments and AI labs are piling up and scrambling for data... and for a good reason. If you work with data, what is the real situation vs what media likes us to believe?

Yes, data will always have to thoughtful but “big data” (@ 1M loc) almost always has a “synthetic data” element added to its final dataset. Bold new look Goda Go.

Brining some humanity into AI topic :D

The issue with data is that most of it already belongs to people and was created by people. Theses companies coming in and taking that and using it however they want without the consent of the people who own/created that data. We needed data and labor rights. And better laws regulating these companies from stealing from people.

That is a subtle point I wanted to make - all the patterns are similar to colonialism - coming and taking, benefiting from it and never looking back.

@@godago 💯 I’m an illustrator and seeing the abusive use of this technology has been very difficult for me and many of my peers. And the complete disregard to our concerns has heartbreaking. The visual arts are undervalued enough as it is. There are many concerns with this tech and hopefully they get addressed soon. So people can consent and get paid fairly for their work, and get paid royalties. Most people don’t understand the labor it takes to develop that skill set and how vulnerable it can be to express yourself in that way. I wish more people understood and appreciated the process and work artists go through, and the importance of visual literacy. Art is not just about fun but also the process and the very real and difficult work it takes to get there to become more skilled in that profession. Drawing, writing, science and math are equally important but rarely is drawing treated the same way. It’s unfortunate. Hopefully that changes in the future.

This is huge! I would love to see more content like this to better understand what the landscape is for data scraping and how to do it ethically. Great video.

Everybody realized how important data was early last year, so they started putting up barriers to scraping (Reddit, Twitter, etc) Currently AI models are ridiculously inefficient/primitive compared to the human brain. A human needs one maybe two textbooks to learn a topic, LLMs need dozens if not hundreds. So a far more efficient AI processing of data will come, and then we might have too much data. 😄 Right now the real winner in the AI race is Nvidia because of CUDA. All their customers and competitors however know that they are being screwed by Nvidia and are working very hard to undo that advantage. I even foresee them cooperating together to that end.
