She was finally free when she should have been all those 16 years. Justice hasn't been served. She didn't even get to hear an apology let alone a compensation. In exchange for her freedom which she has always been entitled to, she had to keep quiet about her wrongful imprisonment and the wrongful execution of her husband. There's no justice served. That's injustice covering their ass!

she was not innocent. just not guilty of what they accused hr of and should have got a lesser sentence. She chose to get in the cops car while the shooter and her man stole it. THEN chose to stay in the car when an innocent old man was kidnapped and terrorized. Endangered the 2 kids being with that man after 2 cops were just killed. UNLESS he threatened her to get in that car there is no excuse except she was dumb making dumb decisions. YET she did not plan nor participate in shooting them so should have got the jury to hear that. She could have been charged with accomplice instead and that would have been truth. So in the end the amount of time she served was more than she would have served but possibly not. THE suppression of evidence is an act that prosecutor should have been held accountable for and there needs to be mandatory prosecution of any da who knowingly with holds evidence like that. THIS woman was not innocent. JUST NOT guilty as charged.

What happened to moviemakers? It used to be fun and enriching to watch a film up until the 2010's. Now its all about making best selling crime movies and series that makes cruel good and good a dirty word. Thankfully some filmakers fight against the deranged path of arts. Thank you for sharing the "old" films. Often I have to see movies made before 1970 to avoid the movies saturated with horrific crime, nakedness and constant swearing. The darkness from the gaming and arts are impacting our society badly. Thank for sharing the good in this dark times.

"True story about Sonia Jacobs (played by Mimi Rogers) - and her husband, Jesse Tafero, who were convicted as co-defendants for the 1976 murder of two Florida policemen. Sonia spent 17 years in prison, and Jesse was executed in 1990. Jesse suffered a particularly gruesome fate for an innocent man. He burst into flames while strapped into the electric chair during his execution, because of an electrical malfunction. Sonia’s childhood friend (Veronica Hamel), a filmmaker, endeavors and eventually wins her freedom. The real killer had confessed to the murders to the police and committed perjury during their trial, but it wasn’t revealed to Sonia until after her husband had already been falsely executed. She was released from prison in Florida on October 9, 1992." If in real life Sonia really told her best friend that she was thinking about her kids that is why she got into the police car with them. What kind of thinking about your kids was that.

Just a few minutes in and all I can think is "stupid woman"! To endanger the lives of her children and expose them to such terror and trauma is ....well, there is no word horrible enough to describe it. But that doesn't mean she should be punished for something she didn't do.😢

Unpopular opinion, she was a willing accomplice in todays world. She would be held in some responsibility to risking her children’s lives. She had many chances to not to continue to go with him but she didn’t. 😢 she shouldn’t get all of the responsibility but she she of have some imo. Sad story, happens to a lot of women.

@@consumersmartsrecognizingf9715 I will interpret that comment as being sincere, rather than tongue in cheek. It is probably true that there are a lot of innocent people in prison. The criminal justice system is created by man, therefore, it is faulty. The criminal justice system is comprised of multiple interrelated pillars, consisting of academia, law enforcement, forensic services, the judiciary, and corrections.

Lifetime friendship & the love of a true friend with belief in the truth is more powerful than the law & unchosen lawyers who want their own step up to gain their fame regardless of who is in their way, or the consequences of the innocent, they turn a blind eye believing they will get away with it. I have seen this film before many years ago now, & it's just as good as the first time. Excellent film for 1996 to me ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ in 2022 as well. ❤️ 🇦🇺

This was a known criminal that these people involved with while they owned many guns. Errors in prosecution are harrowing for us but there would be far less of this if people refuse to associate with active criminals. Once a criminal is in your life, they can do to you what they have done to others.

It sure makes me hate the so-called "justice" system. And the cops? Too many act like they're the judge and the jury, beating up on people they preclude were guilty and ignoring the law that says "innocent before being proven guilty." Too many are given a badge and a gun they don't deserve. The worst part about this travesty is that the killer was paroled, while the innocent husband and father was executed. The ending was right, but the price of her freedom was to exculpate those who shamed the first trial with lies, negligence, and false witness.

Please see my brother's f/b page, Justice For Marvin William Harris. He was murdered execution style by a bullet to the back of his head as he lay sleeping. The police reconstructed his head and shot him in his left eye postmortem to perpetrate their lie osuicide. It took my sister and me 27 years to finally view and obtain the death scene images which clearly depict his execution. The images are posted on his f/b page. We are still trying to get justice for him.
