This was my grandmother’s favorite hymn and I used to sing it with my father while he played the guitar as accompaniment. They’re both gone now, but I treasure that memory in my heart.

this song is probably my most loved song that I learnt when I was a teenager over 50 plus years ago & it is one of the only songs that I can still remember the words of except for the last verse. I used to have a lovely garden & so now I close my eyes & remember it as I sing the words. So thank you for singing it. My other real favourite is an old hymn that we used to sing & which I would love you to sing & it is called, The Love of God. The love of God is greater far than tongue or pen can ever tell... It has three verses & the third one always blows my mind... There is a version of it on youtube with a Celtic background which is my favourite choice as my background was Celtic 5 generations ago. 😀
