WOW!! This is some really amazing content! The editing is amazingly done, the footage is clean and beautiful, the historic content is accurate and, in my opinion, most important and impressive is your ability to create a narrative. A lot of videos about x city or place fail to capture the soul of the city, it ends up just being a compilation of picturesque images with some information on the side. What you guys just did is completely different and the sign of someone who really understands and loves their craft. I'm not one to comment on youtube videos, but I felt truly impressed and inspired by this 16 minutes that you created. Best of luck going forward!!!

Wow, your comment here truly made my day. Thank you. This is so meaningful to me, and glad that you managed to see the vision I'm trying to create, to produce meaningful travel videos that deeply appreciate places and pay tribute to the stories and their history. Thank you for watching this, and I'm very grateful to have an audience such as you!

Janz, my friend, you capture and show more of us Portuguese and Portugal than anything I have put my eyes upon, I mean I´ve watched countless amateur and professional docs made by celebrated directors and networks but none came so close to capturing our essence and soul than you and the only way to do it is to surrender to your love for life and of course Portugal. Thank you very much for this picture-perfect picture of us through your lens in the most brilliant, perfect and well-thought masterpiece videos I ever saw about what I dare call ...Lusitania.

Thank you very much for this thoughtful comment. This means a great deal! I absolutely enjoyed my time in Coimbra, and even so, the story of the city makes it even more meaningful. Appreciate your thoughts and your compliment! I’m very glad to be living in Portugal, as you can tell. ⭐️

Bravo! having spent my childhood in Coimbra, I'm flattered and, of course, full of saudades. Just one more detail about the Alcobaça tombs. They are placed in a way that, when rising from the dead, Inês would be the first thing that Pedro would see.

Thank you so much! As you can see, I'm enamoured with Coimbra. And yes, I should have mentioned about the tombs in Alcobaça, it's so poetic. That's definitely true love, right there.

Thank you for making this vlog, making justice to Coimbra, one of the most notorious overlooked Portuguese wonders, among many spread throughout the Portuguese territory. There are two additional details related to the story of Pedro & Inês, still not mentioned here (neither in the video, nor in the comments): - Pedro's revenge over Inês' murderers was only completed when Pedro himself took the hearts from their corpses claiming that "men capable of such cruelty must have no heart"; - There's also the myth around the connection between Inês' blood and the coulour of the red lichens (or perhaps algae) that grew in the stones of the Fonte dos Amores in Quinta das Lágrimas. Besides Inês, Rainha Santa Isabel is also a very famous historical and mythical character closely connected to Coimbra, making worth a visit to the monasteries of Santa Clara-a-Velha and Santa Clara-a-Nova, where she was burried and where to her tomb was relocated later. Also in the Mondego left bank you may find the Portugal dos Pequenitos Park made for children but also worthing a visit for adults. Talking about overlooked Portuguese wonders, in this case very close to Lisboa, where you live, I just can't resist to recommend a programme that I saw today in the Portuguese TV (RTP1 at 11:38) about the Estuário do Tejo and its importance to nature and birds in particular (www.rtp.pt/play/p7954/estuario-do-tejo-o-reino-das-aves). Everyone should see it to be aware of this so vulnerable and so threatened wonder, in the need for protection. Please, carry on with the stunning work.

Absolutely loving watching your videos of Portugal which is a destination we have long loved. I've always wandered what Portugal is like away from the Algarve which your videos have captured. I can see you presenting a travel, culture & history programme for the BBC. You have a wonderful presence and a natural presenting manner. Thankyou please continue with more videos of Portugal. I am researching for possible location for 6 month stays to escape the UK winter when we retire in the distant future :-)

Congratulations Janz on another exquisitely beautiful video. Your love of Portuguese history brings these places to life. The Portuguese love their stories. I believe there is nothing of historical significance in Portugal without a story that is just as majestic and legendary behind it. The Portuguese all know it, but unfortunately the typical tourist comes and goes without any real understanding of the significance of what they have seen. Obrigado.

I loved the video!!! I think you've captured the essence of this mystical and tragic Love story between Pedro and Inês beautifuly and even the graphics and music chosen were impeccable!! I could feel that you've connected with the story and became very interested in narrating it and knowing its intricacies. I also liked that you went on a trip from Coimbra to Aveiro and to Costa Nova and Buçaco, showing a little bit of the area, even though I think maybe Aveiro would deserve a video on its own. 😁 You're a true storyteller, and everytime you're delving more deep into the stories of the places you visit, and that's an amazing work of research! Well done! 👏👏👏👏

Montage and plot twists in those 2 movies are extraordinary. I only can guess that you don't have more subs and views because the amount of time it take to produce that kind of movie and youtube algorithms which force you to be very consistent for a long period of time to be successful. Which I very much recommend. If you choose that path of career you almost have all you need, only 2 ingredients left - persistent and time.

Good one once again 🙃 we did a detailed video about Pedro & Inês tragic love story a while back! You did a good historical sequence there with the drawings and statues, maps and so on! Pedro & Inês had 4 children but one of them died right after birth. We also have a very detailed video about Bussaco Forest 😉 check it out and let us know what you think about it! Costa Nova is great, just a few minutes from Aveiro, and there's so much more to see around it. Come back to explore more! And obviously I have said it before, if you want a cooperation we'll be available. We're not video-makers like you, but we're tour guides and know quite a lot about this territory! Thanks for sharing these places with people, so that they can come here and stay for a while enjoying the best we have. Cheers!

I am very sad and disappointed, because you did not speak about Queen Isabel of Portugal, known as the Holy Queen, and how she is also important for the city of Coimbra, she built the Mosteiro de Santa Clara a Velha (first burial site of Ines), her rose's miracle and her burial site in Coimbra in the Mosteiro de Santa Clara a Nova. And also because you have not visited other great places in Coimbra, such as Portugal dos pequenitos or Jardim da Sereia (the mermaid garden) or even Penedo da saudade.
