A lot of drummers will use two so that they sound subtly different. Not so much that it's really noticeable without close listening, but it helps articulate between the two etc.

One thing I really like about Moose is that he actually uses 2 bass pedals with the bass drums instead of a double bass pedal, like I see a good lot of metal drummers do. I guess it's a feel thing?

Andrew Konkey i don't know if this is true but i read that they use double bass on one drum bass because if they rip the drumhead they can use the second one.

2 kick drums is a different feel to a double pedal, and it's much easier to get 2 single pedals feeling the same than it is to make the slave pedal on a double pedal feel the same as the master, which can make a big difference. Plus, he uses 2 kicks live, and if you're in a studio like that they can use whatever they feel like because they're not paying.

He went down on his kit, he used to have alot more gear, now just basics. Could be a mature musican growing up or just getting a simpler setup, or just something else. either way, im sure it will be great as ever.

Michael definitely downgraded on his kit. he lost the 8 in tom? (i think thats what he used on scream aim fire.) HOWEVER, the downgrade isnt necessarily a bad thing. It would take away from the artsy way of playing, and just leaving the lesser, but more abrasive playing style that weve grown to love from BFMV. BRING ON THE FOURTH ALBUM!!! AND THE TOUR THAT FOLLOWS!!! PITTSBURGH, PA IS A MUST!!!!

Why not just use a single bass drum with a double peddle? It removes the task of trying to precisely tune two bass drums to the same sound.
