Dude, you need to put more time into learning the differences between the stock OS and JJOS, anyone would think from this video that there aren't many differences between the two. JJOS unleashes the full potential of the MPC 2500 and 1000, there are so many additions beyond chopping that it's like a whole new machine.

What's up Pico!!! Thanks for reaching out!! These "Initial Thoughts" videos are just my impression of a piece of gear or software as they relate to my studio use. While I personally wouldn't invest in the JJOS software, most viewers of the channel understand why and wouldn't be swayed my initial opinion on it.

JJ OS3 is insane. Any MPC without at least 2XL or 3 installed is not far from a guitar with only one or strings in comparison. Worth every single dollar. The free JJ OS is not even a tester really.

@SPECIALKNOWBODYS Now... I'm pretty much lawless, I use the modular synth with Elektron gear, I record in Logic Pro X. I’m not sure auto-chopping on JJOS is better but it sure is faster. Paid version of JJOS has the ability to have chop up a single sample without turning it into a load of individual files-can keep sample management way more efficient!

Yep!!! I hear nothing but great things about the paid version!!!

I have an MPC One which can do anything I dream of - and more I guess. But there's something about these older MPC's - must be the midlife crisis kicking in and the "old things are good too" vibe that comes with it.

Uh, no. Your MPC One is built the way it is because of what JJ implemented in his OS that is exclusive to the 1000/2500. And it functions with less drama than the live/X/one does.

I've got a 1000 with JJOS and it's awesome. It is its own computer, doesn't need to interface with anything else to work. You turn it on, make beats. Software hybrids and the sort will eventually be door stops when the computers advance beyond the old hardware and software. I know one of the new MPC's can be standalone. But look at the Ren, it's already no longer supported. I know neither is the 1000 but JJ seems to never quit with his OS. My 1000 never crashes and is solid as a rock. I wouldn't part with it ever.

MPC 1000 is a better bet for a serious musician than the Live. The latter is a Christmas toy, the former is a serious instrument with JJOS installed. The MPC Live is a tablet with pads attached, it lags with multiple effects and the touch screen is inefficient to say the least. If you've ever subjected yourself to the horror of iMPC you'll know what to expect - stupid kiddy graphics and patience-testing design. The MPC 2500 and 1000 are keepers for life.

What bugs me about Maschine is navigating through sample packs and adverts for crap I don't need. Same with the MPC Live and MPC X. As soon as you boot it up you're looking at garish artwork for sample packs. MPC is all about making your own sound.
