Think Bruce is being a bit unfair to Vader here. Yes, Vader could be a bully in the ring but his great matches didn’t centre on him bullying weaker wrestlers and he was a good worker, however stiff he was. I think his quick destruction by Hogan also damaged his aura as much as the Orndorff incident. You also can’t lay all the blame for his WWE run on him but of course shill Bruce is never going to criticise WWe

They pushed FAR worse workers, FAR more out of shape workers, than Vader in WWE. Think Bruce may be overcompensating with this assessment of Vader in WWE. The folks who Vader faced in Japan and WCW "hit back" lol, my god. He put on weight, and he was still better than half the WWF roster in 97. The "swagger" disappeared because WWF booked him like absolute bullshit. Same with Mero. Maybe the first time I've felt the full "shill" side of Bruce, unfortunately.

@@dantecarroll2435 He had a great physique, he could cut a promo (and not just as Johnny B Badd, his in-ring promos as 'Marvelous' Marc were good too) and yes, he was an excellent athlete. Mero seems to be the whipping boy for a lot of ex-WWE execs because he lost steam after Sable got over and because he put her over as much as he could, plus he's been a critic of some of WWE's working practices. He may have been overpushed in the early days, although I've seen plenty of worse Intercontinental champions but he was still a talented worker.

I was at this show in the fifth row on the hard cam side. It was a good show but Rocka Billy was a huge letdown. I painted a poster with a picture of the Undertaker. Just as it was about to be on screen the lights went out for the Taker’s entrance. It wasn’t perfect but it was a good time

Orndorff dropping him really broke his mindset and he wasn’t the same dude when he came to WWF, Shawn being Shawn didn’t help. Injuries piled up and he was an afterthought. I loved Vader but he wasn’t THE guy at that point in his career. But for some reason people assume it was 1992 Vader that WWF got and dropped the ball.

It wasn’t hate at all. If you had listened to the whole segment on Vader, Bruce said he liked Vader. All he said was that Vader had changed, and explained how. Criticizing someone is not the same as hating someone.

It makes these shows honestly hard to listen to. First year of STW was great, after that it’s just Bruce complaining most of the time or whining about Meltzer. It just gets old. I was interested in this episode because I like that particular IYH but I couldn’t make it all the way through bc Bruce is just insufferable to listen to.
