It takes integrity to admit when you are wrong. Ironically, confessing that you have been untrustworthy in the past makes you trustworthy in the present. I'm thinking of making a similar video. Do you actually follow this? Your videos regularly feature absolute crackpots who are universally rejected by real experts and academics. I seriosuly doubt you read any academic articles refuting the stupidity of guys like Jordan Peterson, Elon Musk and Graham Hancock. Whatever "research" you do in your videos is absolute gaurbage. Funny how the people who most regularly praise "admitting when you're wrong" almost never do it, and just wish that everyone else would admit their crackpot nonsense was right.
@vaughnmuench78764 жыл бұрын
@@jonathanblanton4642 yes I’m sure you’re thoroughly aware of the research that after skool does. Scientists are always in argument because, surprisingly, we don’t know everything. Just because some ideas are disputed doesn’t mean they’re wrong and shouldn’t be shared. Also you put the u in garbage
@jonathanblanton46424 жыл бұрын
@@vaughnmuench7876 It is perfectly obvious that they do not do any real research for their videos. They skim an article or blog post by a crackpot and make it into a shitty infographics video. Many topics are hotly debated by scientists, and many have been settled science for hundreds of years. But these idiots don't give a shit about actual scientific research or studies in philosophy, so they post nonsense about ancient humans in Antartica and other such things that the entire scientific community knows for a fact is not true. And tons of their videos feature crackpot "philosophy" from people who are NOT philosophers, do not study philosophy, and are universally rejected by actual philosophers and academics. And now they're claiming that they're going to make a self-reflecting video? lol Are they going to tell their viewers that all of their videos are considered absolute bunk by the entire scientific, philosophical and academic community? Of course not, they're going to congradulate themselves for being awesome and "open minded" enough to go against settled science and publish crap. Kurzgesagt gives a real scientific overview in their videos and obviosuly tries to do a considerable amount of research with fact checking by researchers. Their drug video is probably their only "bad" video and it simply failed to bring up the objections to the ideas presented, and did not make it clear to their audience that the topic is debated and controversial. Good on them, but everything stated in the video is bascally accurate and is a position many scientists in that field hold. After Skool regularly posts gaurbage that ZERO scientists, philosophers or academics support and in fact openly reject.

This is such a great video. Hank and I talk a lot about the constant risk of "distortion through simplification." As you point out here, often the unequivocal videos with the hottest takes perform better than nuanced videos acknowledging complexity. Part of what makes Kurzgesagt special is that you always strive to make the best videos, rather than following the incentives to just maximize audience. One other note: I've seen in comments below lots of people saying versions of, "Just don't talk about politics." I think this is an oversimplification, because politics touches everything human. You can't talk about meat or drugs or organic food or even loneliness in an "apolitical" way, because choices about how we govern and regulate our communities shape all those things. That some facets of human experience (the refugee crisis, for instance) are heavily politicized does not actually mean that they are necessarily more "political." I don't think we can ask or expect any KZbin channel (or any human enterprise) not to be "political." I think we can only ask it to be careful, and to strive for rigor and accuracy. -John

It seems my little attempts to make people look more critical on these extremely theoretical narratives actually motivated Kurzgesagt to either attempt make an apologetic video, or honestly try to address the criticism. The whole video on loneliness is such a boogie trying to appear very profound to people who suddenly thought that someone made a smart video on something they also struggle with, and so it is true and they are thankful for the insight. Incorrect. Their latest videos are just big boogies with either "what if" or pseudo-scientific attempts to appear top educator. he is EXTREMELY biased to the left and he basically admits in this video that he caves to left wing "fact checkers". take his meat video for example, if meat was so bad for my health, why do i have such low cholesterol, its the amount of calories that influence cholesterol levels, not the enzymes in the meat, in fact meat proteins EAT AWAY at cholesterol and excess calcium, it just so happens meat has a higher caloric density than fruits and vegetables, so we need a more BALANCED diet, not a meat free one. thats not even getting started on the economics of it which ill describe in my "why meat is good" video. he should know this stuff, but no ,better to be in his "optimistic nihilist" echo chamber.
@jasoneads68255 жыл бұрын
@@XBLspartanx170 The meat video definitely broke my trust in Kurzgesagt, after I had shared other videos they made both in and out of my locus of knowledge. This video is a step towards redemption, and a claim they intend to do something about it, but the problems with that video have not been dealt with yet. The Exoplanets Channel i mean there’s actually a surprising number of them. If you want a whole bunch of stuff, PBS (the big government funded educational organization in the US) has a whole a bunch of channels dedicated to everything from Quantum Mechanics/Cosmology to Literature. Just look up PBS digital studios + subject, and they’re is probably a channel at least close to that
