Life tip: if someone threatens suicide and you don't want to assume they're bluffing, call the police and tell them about the situation. If it was an empty threat they failed to manipulate you and if it wasn't they'll get the help they need.

Yeah, it's something I keep in my back pocket, so to speak! I've never felt the need to use it on creeps, but I did use it once on a *very* shy and insecure guy, who looked like he was going to pass out when he asked me out and I didn't know what else to say that wouldn't make him feel like crap, so I told him if I was interested in guys I would go out with him in a second. He really wasn't a bad guy, just really awkward!

I love the end. I hate guys with short man syndrome. My ex husband had it and was 5'8" He wouldnt let me wear heels because we would be the same height. And he wanted me to weight like 50 pounds less than him because he didnt want me to be bigger then him. My now husband is 5'6" and doesnt care at all if i wear heels. as he said " I am just happy to be seen with someone as beautiful as you" and I am almost 100 pounds heavier then him. he doesnt care. he loves me regardless. and i like that he isnt insecure about his height and doesnt use that to control what i do with my body
@butterflypooo
@butterflypooo 2 жыл бұрын
Wow. Any excuse to try to control a woman. Sheesh. It’s one thing to be insecure but to use that to control others is so manipulative. It tells me that they are just looking to control and probably are faking/exaggerating their insecurities. I’m 5’6 and I don’t feel short. I think most guys are at my eye level or at least seem to be. I think being 5’6 or 5’8 is a lot more common than the internet makes it seem. Glad ur current husband sounds a lot more down to earth (not a short joke- pun not intended).

As a sex worker, I receive so many messages like these on a daily basis. Unfortunately these aren’t rare. To anyone who struggles with receiving messages like this, my best advice is find consistent comebacks to common things you get messaged. For example: I get a lot of unsolicited nudes (mostly from cis guys, not exclusively, but mostly from them), so what I do is I send a pic of a banana cutter back. If you can find a way to respond that shuts them up and makes you laugh, it’s my personal favourite way to deal with them.

In Canada, homosexuality was still regarded as a disease well into the 1990's. Back then, the Red Cross would disqualify anyone with even some homosexual tendency from giving blood. They insisted that receiving blood from an homosexual person WILL make you homosexual. Then, as late as the early 2000, the the psychologists order got forced, screaming and kicking, to accept that it was not a mental health problem... By it's own members. Before 1968, homosexuality was still a crime.

Being gay was considered a disease/mental illness in the United States, too. HIV/AIDS was referred to as "gay-relatee disease" at least up until the 70s. In the 50s and maybe 60s, but for sure the 50s on down, in the US, you could be committed for being gay. Being gay was listed on one of the DSMs, not sure which one, though. Being gay was removed from the DSM in 1987. In 1973 the American Psychiatrist Association voted to remove being gay as a mental illness. Disabled people didn't have rights until 1992. This country is so far behind. Ugh

"Femininity is not attracted to femininity, it's biologically impossible" Lol I love that, I identify as a lesbian these days who has a strong preference for femme girls, but as a part of my self discovery journey I did identify as bi with a heavy preference for women at one point, and even then I would always end up drawn to the most feminine guy in the room. I am literally a female, not very femme myself but not particularly butch either, and I'm attracted to femininity. I always have been. Even when I identified as bi and in the rare instances where I felt some sort of attraction to men, it was always conventionally cute or feminine men. I didn't learn this concept until after high school. Had I known this it might've helped me realize what I was doing to myself and the people around me. Being a nice guy is a subconscious mindset that translates your words and actions to a "this for that" mentality and behavior (i.e. if I'm nice to you, then you SHOULD be nice to me because that seems fair) but life doesn't revolve around how you think and feel which is why people who think like this always feel so slighted by the smallest inconvenience. Being a good guy is completely different. Your words and actions say "I'm being nice to you because I WANT to be nice to you" because helping others around them have a better, more fulfilling day is more rewarding that having their feelings reciprocated.
@brothersandsistersofvalhalla

Life pro tips: if someone threathens that they will harm themselves if you don't do something, don't do what they ask of you, it's emotional abuse and if you do it they will learn that they can manipulate you by abusing your empathy. Instead you can call the emergency number and tell them that you're worried they're going to harm themselves. Save the messages and show them to the authorities if they come talk to you about it. As a middle-aged biddy who's been married over 20 years, I don't really know about modern dating - but I WILL say: there were incels back in my day, too, they just weren't called by that name. And for the most part, they always harassed the pretty slim girls... and completely and totally ignored those of us who weren't conventionally beautiful. Honestly, if it's like how it was when I was young, then for every frustrated lad complaining that "no one" will give him a chance, there's a young lady sitting next to him wishing he'd stop pining after the Prom Queen and maybe look her way instead. I know; I was a nerdy gal who loved Star Wars, Doctor Who, and all things geeky, but the male geeks in my school couldn't even look in my direction - all the while complaining that there were "no girls" interested in them. The problem is that young men are taught from RomComs and other media that stalking a woman is "romantic", and that they should never take "no" for an answer. Also, they're so desperate for "a girl" that they treat women as a goal, or a prize to be "won", rather than a fellow human being. I think our culture has offered horrible, destructive lessons, to boys and girls alike, and the dating youth of today is suffering for the movie tropes older generations - including mine - perpetuated. I found the love of my life in my late 30s, someone who didn't need me to be thin or pretty but instead wanted someone who would love him for him, and grow old along with him. 20 years later we're still happy we chose each other based on personality and shared interests, because looks fade but a shared love of all things geeky is forever. Life can be good. Middle age is when you really find out who your true love is.

I personally feel like it needs to be normalized for women to persue men without getting labeled. Why should it always be the man's responsibility to approach a girl and ask her out? I've been with my bf for a few years now and I was the one who initiated the relationship. Guys are often every bit as shy as girls and they might feel like no one is interested in them. I think if they just had a girl approach them and ask them out on a date they'd avoid growing bitter and falling into the incel pit. On the other hand some guys are just garbage human beings who think their life problems will become magically fixed if they just had sex.
@spikeoramathon

@@glenngriffon8032 I totally agree! Back in my grandmother's day there were things like "Sadie Hawkins dances" where the woman would ask the man out, and "box lunch picnics," where the women would choose the man they wanted by giving him a lunch she'd prepared, but those were once a year/once a season events, and, of course, "traditional" role models applied.
@Julia-lk8jn
@Julia-lk8jn Жыл бұрын
@@glenngriffon8032 Agreed, and media are definitely part of the problem here - it's always the man doing the pursuing, and if there's ever a woman who is after a man, she is either utterly pathetic or it'll turn out he's not the one for her. BTW, shout-out to Jane Austen, who already questioned that in her first book (not first published!!) by having a hero who was basically only getting into a pretty girl because she was impulsive enough to make it clear that she liked him a lot. About shy ... I had that fun moment in a dance club seeing two teenage girls being on the floor, dancing together and practicing all the moves they'd learned and looking absolutely heavenly: slim, pretty, dolled up, dancing confidently and beautifully ... while at the next table their male class mates clutch their soft drinks and watch with a mix of yearning and full-blown fear. I absolutely get that girls that lovely can be intimidating. But that's not the problem, the problem is when you combine that with (1) "I've got to shag a beautiful girl so my friends are impressed" and (2) "Not even gonna talk to an ugly ( = not stunningly sexy) girl, because my friends will laugh at me".

It's stuff like this that makes it so terrifying to be a woman these days. In online circles I actually pretended to be a boy and only revealed the truth to a few people down the line that I really trusted to avoid all this garbage. It always worked very well and the few people who I let find out who I was were always the type of people who didn't care about gender in the first place. Even though we look at people acting this way and know they're idiots being called all those degrading things still hurts. No matter who says it I don't think anyone is ever immune to being insulted.

When these types of people insult me, I mostly find it pathetic & sometimes I find it to be hilarious, depending on word choice & creativity. What they are essentially telling me is that they haven't grown at all past the toddler stage where people throw tantrums when they don't get their way. They are flat out saying that they weren't raised correctly & have no grasp of appropriate behavior. It seems to be Mommy issues a lot of the time. They are also showing me exactly why they don't have anyone. It always says WAY more about them than it does about you no matter what words they use because they know next to nothing about you really. If they don't even like themselves enough to try figure out why every interaction with them ends with them being angry & negative to someone else, I'm genuinely baffled on why they expect anyone else to like them either. Like, dude, if you don't like you, why do you think I'm supposed to? The "logic" they are operating under is faulty so try not to take it on board. Opinions aren't facts so find a couple of people you trust to check yourself when you're questioning anything & throw the rest where they belong...in the trash. Good luck.

Speaking as a guy, I see no reason you should be obligated to tell your gender in an online game or generic situation. If someone is focused on what gender you are in an anonymous online situation, it's not strange to ask why they think that information is relevant. I suppose some people may want to flirt online, and if that's their thing, it doesn't bother me. But it strikes me as more than a bit juvenile, to worry about whether a person you are only going to engage with online, has boobs or not. It should go without saying the degrading, insulting stuff, is horrible, and hurtful.

Doesn't help you now, but I'd just like to say that unwanted flirting/sexual innuendo from _anyone,_ regardless of age or gender, is sexual harassment. Obviously, asking them to stop is the first step, but if it continues you should bring it to the attention of whoever's in charge. If you are worried they'll brush it off, look up the EEOC definition of sexual harassment and the laws surrounding it, then show it to them. If you're in a one party consent state, record the conversation and all conversations about it (recording the harassment is helpful too if you can.) Then file a charge against them through the EEOC if they continue to not address the situation. I understand it may not be worth your time to do all this, but it's what you can do. Esp if the harasser is coming on to you hard.

As I just replied in the comment preceding yours: Accept rejection gracefully. Have no expectations. Those are the two key things when it comes to flirting or even just paying someone a compliment. And really, that's what flirting boils down to, paying compliments with grace and finesse, in a lighthearted way with no expectation of response. Also remember: Confidence is sexy. Self-hate is a major turn-off. Learn to like who you are, and work on the parts of yourself that you don't like. ["Working on the parts of yourself you don't like" is a lifelong exercise in self-improvement.] Shyness is "poor self-esteem" + "fear" + "M.B.-Introversion". Definition of "M.B.-Introverson" is "Introversion" as defined on the Meyers-Briggs E-I axis: You prefer to socialize one-on-one, because interacting in large groups is exhausting. Oh, you can still go to parties, just rest up before, and give yourself some alone-time-recovery afterwards. The "fear" here is fear of what others think about you and fear of rejection. The healthy way to, "not care about what others think," is to make sure you're not interacting with others the way the douchenozzles in this video are. If you make sure that you're not coming across as arrogant, or needy/clingy, or condescending, or inconsiderate, then any bad reaction on their part isn't due to something you've done, but is all about their issues.

As someone who has multiple disabilities I cannot even begin to describe how much I loath people who call other people ableist for bs reasons. I get called ableist all the time for suggesting we make accommodations for disabilities because apparently idiots think acknowledging something targets vulnerabilities or causes difficulty for some people is somehow sh*ting on them. It takes next to nothing to make adjustments for overall accessibility when you build it in from the start. I live in hell from people not bothering with accessibility, just because I hide my own doesn't mean I am going to look the other way when something comes up that matters to people with other disabilities. Be careful who you throw that word at as a joke, you don't know what they live with.

Gotta loooooooove when the conversation goes from casual to intimate just after few messages... happened to me just some time ago. Was talking to this one guy (couple of messages sent), told him that we had cleaned our bathroom floor with my roommate since he asked how I was doing and then he just goes; "we could test drive the clean bathroom"... in which I replied only that "Hahaha, oh well I do need to go take a shower today", where he continues to reply "then you would see all my piercings 😏 and tattoos". I was not having that, trying to change the subject and the last message he sent was him telling me how he has a prince Albert. I never replied but I was like "oooookay I don't care, NOPE". I have NEVER understood how it's okay to jump from a normal conversation to hinting about sex just like that to a person you have never talked to before, be it a dating app or not. It's creepy imo. Some might like it, but they will say it and go with it, if they are okay with it. I am not and I will ignore every guy who starts to hint about sex during the first or even third conversation, especially without context.

There is a big difference between nice and good. There is a reason why nice guys finish last, it's because they'll only be nice in hope of something in return. Being a good person is different as good people do the right thing and be kind for the sake of being on and expect nothing in return. I remember as a younger kid I used to say I was a nice guy, and while not as creepy or needy as these people are I was only doing stuff in hopes of something in return. Now I just try my best to be a good person, and though I've failed as I'm human. I'm a much better person due to a simple change in perspective. Don't be a nice guy, be a good person.

I'll admit that I have a perpensity for blondes with blue or green eyes, but I've also dated guys that are dark. Attraction comes down more to whether a man is handsome, but in the end it's all about personality. So, to any younger guys reading this, just remember that the vapid, shallow girls who are obsessed with one particular trait and make a checklist aren't the barometer. Just be a decent human being and ignore the girls that make it all about one thing.

Honestly it goes personality/ intelligence, eyes ( if you can't get lost in the eyes of the one you love and forget about something what's the point) and then everything else.except you know the pointless details like height, how big a certain body part is.etc,etc

As another woman, I can testify that everything in this comment thread this is true. Personality compatibility, approachability and some overlap in some of our hobbies is way more important factors in attractiveness than any arbitrary details, such as financial success, field of study or current career path, or individual traits like how someone looks. I want to love someone that I care for on a platonic, human level, and I want to support someone who is already on their own journey in life in this moment, no matter what that might be. I'll learn to love someone for their own unique features over time. No two sets of brown eyes are the same or have seen the same things. I don't have patience for a surface-level relationship based on physical attraction, because that likely won't mean anything in the long run.

By that guy's logic I shouldn't exist. My father was 5'6 and even shorter now, due to age.
