I stopped watching after first the police took finger prints of the parents and then the parents searched another trailer without gloves. A brick should be smarter.

That was the first thing I asked myself - did they even have a real daughter. Why? The title of this video, "the truth was far more horrifying", got me thinking in that direction.

I think the end was different than explained. The short letter was a su1c1de note from the mother. She's probably in the lake because she couldn't take it anymore. The ending scene was a hallucination the father was having while driving. BOTH the mother and the daughter were with him in his mind. But he was actually alone. The twist was good and actually really sad.

Well if mother is hallucination then pedro pascal cop would not have noticed her while sneaking out to the store but he actually caught her

I'm assuming there was no dog either because in the home movie the dog was there when the little girl was. So unless he was quite young then he was likely no longer around. Just a guess though

This twist of the ending really shocked me. Moral of the story hear is to face your troubles no matter how hard & painful it is. Remember that no one can live a lie forever. As well nothing good comes out from lying to yourself & others in order to live in a fantasy. Sooner or later you have get real and face facts. Really feel bad for the hiker and that couple. The deserve to go to jail for killing them.
