2 years ago my life was consumed by stressed in every aspect, to the point that I had hypertension, beard and head hair loss. My beard started to fall out in quarter sized clumps on the left side of my face and neck, it was scary and lead to more stress. I tried everything to get the hair back but nothing worked. After a year of bald patches on my face, and having to be clean shaven as a result, I changed my diet, exercised, kicked out the woman, and all of a sudden my blood pressure is perfect and my beard grew back but it grew back in white! I have a dark beard so I currently dye the patches to match the rest but hey, at least its grew back. Alopeaca barbae sucks.

Thanks Teach. My explanation of what happened to me might be a little long so bare with me. In July I was experiencing more than normal loss so I jumped on here and searched. I don't remember if it was you, scuba, beardbrand or who. But it was said do to the same things and was normal. They also said not (NOT) to obsess over it. I have saved every single beard hair that I have lost in zip lock baggies since July 22 of last year. My plan was to count how many hairs I lose a day. Once I do that I put them in a baggie. One year from that start date I will count every hair in those baggies and average it out. Don't think for one second I'm joking. I'm just obsessive about my beard is all. What has happened to me in the last month studying. Being 48 I sometimes feel like WTF am I doing? I sometimes felt angry at the material which led to frustration, stress and loss of sleep. Then beer comes in to play because I just want to relax. Also medicate maybe (not me)? Now I have been losing some solid good 6" - 8" beard hairs that should not have fallen out. About 10 healthy hairs a day! What is funny about the timing of this video release for me is that last weekend I thought about you always telling us to hydrate and stress the importance. If I had all the time in the world to make one video montage of you telling us to hydrate I wouldn't have enough time. Matter fact Teach you should do that, that would be the best beard video out there. Anyway, I purchased one of these new flask water bottles. They say you'll drink more. Sure enough, I have been drinking out of it everyday since Monday. I got a 40 oz. because there is no excuse to give up unlike a 12 or 16 oz. Hydrating is very important. Today I only lost about 5-6 hairs that looked terminal. Key things that trigger loss for me is Alcohol, Medication, not getting enough sleep, studying and not drinking enough water. My lesson today is to research my local water supply and find out if they have changed anything for this season and make some adjustments in my beard routine. Thanks again. Also, the beard hair I keep and save for my experiment does not include what the barber cuts off. That would be gross. I only collect the one found in the sink, shower and toilet! 😁 Don't send me back to the class for that, I wear glasses!

Man what a comment, thanks for leaving that! Sounds like some positive changes have come with the anchor of drinking more water!

Nikolay Nikolov Try cowashing. It's washing with hair conditioner. I use my wife's Dove. Never itches, 3 split ends in 6 months of growing long. No dandruff. You can cowash everyday of the week which I do in order to remove the previous days products. The conditioner doesn't strip the oils from your face that the beard needs in order to be healthy. Wish I had known this years ago. I've had various beards for over 30 years and suffered the itching in a bad way. Also with conditioner in use a small wet dry brush to exfoliate your face. Use the brush in a circular motion and finish by brushing downwards with the shower water running down your beard.
