Research shows that all students benefit from having educators from a variety of different racial and ethnic backgrounds, and education outcomes improve for students of color who are taught by educators of the same race or ethnicity. To support all students across the state, the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) set a goal to hire more educators of color statewide by 2025.
