I personally loved Andor but absolutely hated the Haulcraft escape. It was unnecessary complicated and more than anything illogically dumb. Laserblades on a starship make no sense. One would need to fly so very close to a ship that the risk of collision for a non jedi is massive. Luthen is no jedi (despite being very interesting and a great character). Moreover the distances in space are relatively long. The opponent has very very many shots before the other ship being in slicing range. A system that relies on the opponents not being able to aim is dumb as heck. Honestly there is nothing to justify the laserblades on the ship other than the rule of cool. Similarly the tractor beam part. Tractor beams have existed in the SW universe much before and during clone wars. Luthen "happens" to be so lucky to get caught up by the few that are using massive dishes to work. The counter tractor beam technology has never been on display before (fair enough Luthen is an atypically well off man with access to Coruscants finest wares). Still if the countermeasure isn't completely brand new then ships would have counter measures for them in place. Larger militaries for sure have access to technologies that Luthen does as well. They run multi quadrillion budgets in SW universe. Luthen siphons what little he can from the resistance funds.

Yeah it's sort've a great nod to the speed of tie fighters. They're designed to be fast, offensive, but very weak defensively. They're designed to overwhelm with numbers - but by charging at them you have a far better chance. They also have to turn around which is generally slower. Shield management is normally an issue, but given the expense of this bird he probably didn't have to cycle. But by going on offense, he dictated the terms and could prepare shields - tie fighters sometimes don't even have them at all, but they know this, so you're getting full engines and full lasers from them. But if they have to slow down or turn, they've lost their advantage - and if they slow early, which an arrogant pilot would do, all the better for your side mounted lasers. His ship is clearly designed for this kind of engagement too. Great scene. You could unpack it for days. ... and it explains a whole lot about why the millennium falcon did so well. Chewie and Han keeping it together with a proper AI, and care. All of Star wars is either cheap or aging, in terms of craft. You don't see, "new" except for these moments. And then you need someone talented to design it - or somebody ruthless enough to buy exactly what he needs and nothing more. I sincerely hope they don't mess this show up.

2:12 I think the inspiration for this trick is from the Thrawn-Trilogy from Timothy Zahn from the 1990s. In one of the books, Luke uses a similar trick against Thrawns Stardestroyer.

Enjoy this scene 100x more than any of the lightsaber duels disney have put out

That recent acolyte duel has had some of the best choreography in the franchise ever. As well Ashoka has some pretty good duels
@Here4Hummus4 ай бұрын
@omarbaba9892 But I just don't care about any of the characters involved in the Acolyte. Just meaningless swinging of lightsabers. This action scene isn't just there to look cool, it actually subtly tells us about Luthen and the empire and how they both operate.
@omarbaba98924 ай бұрын
@@Here4Hummus what I’m saying is that the choreography is amazing and is honestly better than a fair amount of the prequel duels. I don’t think the show is good but a bad show can have good concepts so appreciate how well the choreography team did

This show and rogue one are the only ones in star wars universe that understand what a high atmosphere or ouside of it means for something that gets destroyed ,especially if big : it will float for a bit before getting near gravity of the planet ,so you could still see fragments of the tractor antenna and the tie fighters in mid air,given thr fact that everything happened in less than a minute . It ads so much !!!
