This AI stuff blew my mind (you'll see in the video). This changes things in my material creation workflow right away. I'll be using it moving forward, for sure. How about you? Let me know in the comments what you think.

DESCRIPTION
The new Photoshop Generative Fill AI tool has given me lots of ideas, so of course I have been trying to find ways to integrate it into my workflow. My first thought was textures, so in this video I am trying that out. Let's just say I was pretty shocked at the results. You'll have to check them out and see what you think. It works for seamless textures quite well, but what might be even more impressive is how well it can just generate textures for me, almost out of thin air. I am absolutely going to be using these techniques in my workflow, and I think you all will agree. As always, let me know in the comments what you think about it.

love this, love the channel. Already using this for certain textures. Hard with Brick and the like though.

Well it's a very new tool, so I'm sure there are many uses for it that haven't been fully discovered yet. This one is pretty awesome.

thanks for the tip. this would be bonkers a few years ago, before megascans. but sadly, these days it's hardly useful without normal, height, roughness, etc.

Is there a way to use generative fill in taking a specific fabric/pattern and apply it to an image of a roman shade so that it shows all folds and shadows?

Interesting. However, how to create matching roughness, normal or displacement maps? Only the diffuse (colour) map won't suffice in most cases. Any ideas?

How can that work though? Surface relief is very often independent of surface colour. We had greyscale bump maps derived from colour maps over 20 years ago, and they look wrong now as they did back then.

yeah sadly this is the old school method since it indeed just use the diffuse data lol, still used here and there for a few video games tho @@Andreas_Hopf

This feature is neat, but it can't do really fine wood grain.
