We were saving all these Volvos from the woods and had the opportunity to save this 1984 Vanagon. We freed up the wheels and dragged it home. We cleaned it up and chuck a battery in it! kzbin.infojoin INFO@deanofmachines.com

Despite not getting it to run, this video provided one of the better dismounts from the trailer that I have seen so far! Not nearly so quick as the dismount when my ex's mom came home early while we were still dating, but still well-executed! Seriously, had I the skills I'd be interested in the van. I hope it is already on it's way to it's Forever Home.

The trailer dismount is a staple of entertainment.

I think I like the montage of the vacuum noise and finished pictures the best. I know, this coming from ye olde patient one… But when it comes to detailing, I like just seeing the end result. Meticulously rebuilding an engine, I’m your guy. Keep up the good work Dean!
@DeanofMachines2 ай бұрын
Vacuuming montages would be a great stand alone channel LOL. I did indeed use a generic vac noise because I did not film and of the boring stuff

I found a company that makes an adapter for b230. Unfortunately, it’s not my van to start messing with. Would love to do something fun with it.

Nice work! Didn't know the TDI sold sorry you had such a poor experience with that. I read somewhere the "performance" single Mass flywheel upgrades were causing many people nightmares. Might be a class action suite one day. Anyways, hope to see that sweet vanagon running!

All of my issues were oiling related due to factory design. Didnt have the car long enough to see single mass issues.

The amount of jet washing you do every week, time to rename the channel "Clean Of Machines"

We have settled on “Dean of Clean”! Really though, buying 7 Volvos out of the woods kinda mainlines the content into being pressure wash intensive.

Hi , I have an identical Colour 1983 VW T3 as yours. I bought it in 1989 and still own it. Mine is a 1.9 DG engine Carravelle with carburetor and 5 speed manual gearbox converted into a campervan in the mid 80's . My seats are identical but sadly showing their age. Parts here in Europe are still freely available . Regards from Gibraltar.

No clutch interlock switch on those older vans until the late 90s maybe. This one being an automatic doesn’t have a clutch switch but I remember even the ones from the early 90s with a manual transmission you could start the vanagon in neutral without pressing the clutch pedal. I don’t remember when that changed but they really weren’t around much here in the states after the late 90s early 2000s. I rarely see them anymore

Yeah they didn’t last long. All around terrible vans.

I am considering it for an 85. I'm familiar with the B230, trust them and have a source for parts. It looks like it would be relatively cheap too. After all the Volvo 240 is "God's gift to tight wads". @@DeanofMachines

VW didn't start using that style of rear badge until 1985 model year. Check for the build date on the black decal (in the driver's door opening?); I'm thinking it might be an early 1985 model.
