This kind of thing infuriates me! First, with all we know about the effects on the environment and the companies are still doing it. And secondly, that they take their customers as complete fools not to care that they’re ripping us off. That’s why I think the only way to reduce waste is for legislation to be tightened is to make this kind of thing illegal. Along with shrinkflation and misleading pricing.

With the exception of Gillette (rot in hell) you RARELY SEE stuff like this in Australia. $2 shops, discount clearance/ rejected items stores and stuff you get for free is about the only times. AND those damn gift baskets which are all full of packing. We have STRONG labelling laws here, most stuff gives an ACTUAL PERCENTAGE of local produce in something AND a health star rating so you know if it's junk or not. We ALSO have packaging laws. You don't get duped often.

I tested a box of Kellogs Special K, and after making sure the sides of the box were not bulging out, or pressed in, just vertical, it turned out the Special K came up to 61% of the box, with 39% on the top part of the box just emptiness. And they had the temerity to print on the outside of the box, a red band across about 20% of the top of the extra tall box saying "20% extra". What a pack of cheats they are.
