Got word that a politician's goons run the scams in the area. Very unsurprising as you need some kind of protection to run this scam for as long as its been happening. Politicians will gather large groups of people when the Police show up and over power them. So the local Police give up on that certain case. This is an issue around India in rural areas. So I was right to be cautious about reporting this to the Police by myself. Send in the Army and clean up Chilika Lake I say!

The thing about pearls is that they aren't very rare, they're actually pretty common, but they're only expensive if they're perfectly round and shiny. You can buy a whole bag of non-perfect pearls for $10. The money is in the quality. Pretty much if it can't be made into expensive jewelry, it won't be worth anything.

They can be real but pearls are valued by their perfect roundness and by their shine and color. The moonstone is not a pearl. It's a gemstone placed in a clam.

I am an Indian and I have frequently visited Odisha, one rule is never buy anything off the sellers , sitting in the beaches, especially shells and pearls. Those conch shells they are selling are made of clay and painted. I know this because hen I visited the harbour, and I saw the fishermen offloading their catch I couldn't see any "large conch shells" as part of their catch. They said that they have never come across these types of shells in real life. But they do come across some mussels, clams, hermit crabs. So I realised those pearls and shells were fake. I am a pet enthusiast and I recognised , what those men were smashing in the video , were clams not "oysters" . Another thing any legitimate sea shell, will be corroded, mossy, and not perfect.

I would love to travel to India but the thought of thinking am I consistently getting scammed is to much for me to accept nor want to put myself through. Thank you for these videos.
