India is providing security to the entire Indian Ocean region from the Red Sea to the Malacca Strait amid Chinese provocations in the high seas. If I am not wrong, the chinese research vessel is trying to do multiple tasks. Just some wild guesses. 1. Trying to catch the passive sound signals from the submarine propeller in the operating region for identification of submarine 2. Mapping of ocean floor to know the exact locations of rift valleys and ocean ridges. Which can be a useful hideout especially in warfare. 3. Keeping and eye on the launch tests that are being conducted in the Peninsula and the ocean region. 4. Trying to sense the level operational preparedness in the region 5. Trying to provoke and show its presence in the ocean.

Is chess or xiangqi better? If we just talk about legal board positions, xiangqi has about 10 times that of chess. But because the board is larger, game tree complexity of xiangqi beats that of chess by 37 orders of magnitude. From personal (patzer) experience of both, chess seems more complex but xiangqi is way harder.

Indian research vessel with no obstruction tactic has no use. China is not only studying Indian missiles trajectories and ocean bed, they are searching for Indian stealth Submarine signature. India should either ask friendly nation especially Bangladesh to not allow port call for such Chinese vessel or we should message China that such vessels are prohibited in Indian ocean. If they do not listen we should send the similar vessels in South China Sea to do like wise. Any Chinese submarine in Bay of Bengal can allow China to target the chicken neck Infrastructure in case they go for Arunachal Pradesh .
