This video appeared on my screen today only, quite late indeed. Anyhow, let me inform u that this Guha is not a Bengali. He is a Tamilian by birth. His father was on a Govt.job at Dehradun where he grew up and he is now resident of Bangalore. He studied at IIM,Calcutta for some time and he is basically a cricket journalist but has pretension of a great academiciam and belongs to sabultern history cabal. He is a perfect fit to CPI(M) who maintains equal distance from left extreme and extreme right. In order to understand the import of his le cture u should remember that his audiences were by and large foreigners brought up on staple diet of anti India(civilisational)and anti Hindu(religio-cultural) sentiment. He was telling his audiences why India would never be a super power. He didn't produce any data or recalled any historical facts or precedent to support his assertions..... And he lied as well in between. Indian Constituion wasn't socialist and secular when it was framed. It became so pregnant only after it was raped during Indira Gandhi imposed Emergency under a provision that was copied from Weimer Republic. But RamchandraGuha gloated about its being secular. He lied about the rebellion of Adivasi population in Central India under the leadership of Left extremists. In fact, these Adivasi rebellion have long history. In 1856 Santals of present day Jharkhand rose in rebellion. Adivasis of MP and Chattishgarh and Orissa had rebelled when Nehru first humiliated and then tried to eliminate Prabirchandra Bhanjadeo, very popular Raja of Bastar. Guha didn't speak anything about that. Those sparks of rebellion still continue ander ground. The Left extremists are trying to blow it into raging fire. But it has been doused to a great extent of late. Adivasis have never destabilised or weakend India. Likes of Guha have used them for their dirty politics. It will not work long term. The main thesis behind his talk is India is diverse and multicultural. Therfore it is prone to coalition of multiple forces at the Center in the matters of governance making it inherently weak and inward looking in the matters of power play that eventually makes it incapable of attaining the clout of a Super Power unless its diversity and multiculturalism is replaced by cetralisation of power through mobilisation of overriding Hindu ethnicity and cultual identity to boost India profoundly. The recent economic success which is concomitant with the rise Hindu political power in India proves his point, he asserts. Therefore, he enumerates before his audiences all those weak links which can be attacked by outsiders to destry India if she ever tries to acquire Super Power status. From his talks it is clear that he prefers the language route to dismantle India based on successful Pakistani model that eventually created Bangladesh, if ever Hindutwa forces try to Centralise India into a Super Power!

Kangress's true nature was not widely known for many decades into Independence and many staunch Hindus, like PVNR, were always found in it. many were holdovers from pre-Independence in which Congress served as a platform to unite Indians rather than the secular/jihadi outfit it is today, although that was also always there in the Tilak/Gandhi/nehru wing of old congress. To many of the blinded on the "left", their hatred for hinduism is such that even Kangress appears proHindu to them and closely aligned with BJP. Yes, there were breakoffs from Kangress such as Janata Party led by JPN whose cadres later merged with BJP but the real root of BJP was Jan Sangh which changed names and garnered 2 seats in LS in its initial years - it was seen as a joke by the likes of Indira. Form there it grew under LKA in the lead and Uma Bharti and Govindacharya in the background and critical cadre support extended from the VHP. ABV was not part of its wider appeal but came in later as a compromise figure that would be palatable to seculars. ABV janaab then got sidetracked with the bug of secularism and shayri and the LKA wing could not recapture the narrative. By then, with Modi, development fanatics also sought BJP and the top ideology began to be more and more diluted, although its cadre and public has always remained tethered to Hindutva. Modi I feel saw an opportunity after the 2 consecutive UPA rules and he carefully positioned himself for the core/wider Hindutva constituency and used his Gujrati development plank to gain currency among the development urbanites and outside the Hindi belt. These days even Harvard Swamy, a Sonia chela, prances around as a BJP man, but there was a time when you faced social and professional ostracization for associating with BJP (among the "educated" urban set ) The critical mistake that LKA made was keeping Sudheendra Kulkarni, an undercover secular spy, as his advisor. Same mistake that Hindus have always fallen prey to - not identifying traitors.
