I am happy with my stage 1 Thunderstroke 111. The power distribution is superb.I have gone from a complete stop on 3rd gear without as much as a jolt. Bike takes right off. I roade with two Road glides and kept up with them fairly easiy and these guys were tearing up the road. To be honest again, I know we like big numbers but if you can not ride those big numbers come to nothing. You can lose going up against a honda shadow, or maybe even a moped. It comes down to how confident you are with your skills and you knowing how to use the power that.s between your legs. As for me right now, 111 holds it's ground very well. Good job polaris Indian for making a machine that properly distributes it's power. No complaints here.

Still more show than go, that's what the bike is made for anyhow. If you are looking for real power, don't by an indian or Harley, but if you want relaxed trips, ok . I've nearly finished reading your book, I really appreciate, respect! That time you was more back to the roots, actually it's more commercial with new expensive products and bikes, but you're doing a great job. The world is missing people like you. Keep on sharing!

I have a 2019 H-D Ultra Limited, we installed the stage IV which gives it 117ci. We did go with the stage 3 cam which keeps the HP/TRQ in a better range. Big bore and small cam will make more TRQ than the stage IV cam does in a more usable RPM range. If all your power is produced in the 4500 + range then you'll be disappointed unless your on a lite bike. These big tour bikes need TRQ not HP

All that money for 100 hp. I love the Indian bikes but the Milwaukee 8 has the thunder stroke smoked on available power with upgrades. I have a 124 M8 and for less money it’s making 127hp 142 torque. I do love the thunder stroke engine though. Just so smooth.

Freedom Rider The 116 kit is not worth the money. I put in a set of Lloyd’s 585 cams coupled with the Lloyds breather and freedom exhaust and a dyno tune. My bike made 103hp and 126tq at the back tire in Texas on a 100 degree day. Total cost of my project was 1900 bucks. Much better than the Milwaukee engine imo. My 111 engine and your 124 are apples and oranges though. Way different technology.
@freedom6919741

Jason a cam install in a 114 m8 will get 110 hp 125 torque at the wheel. I chose to do the 124 because I am a gear head that is addicted to building bikes. My last bike was a 116 Vision built by the Vic Shop. 137/139. I love the 111 motor even in stock form. My next bike will be an Indian I do know that. After riding a Road Glide for the past 45000 miles it is like riding a relic compared to the Indian. The Indian is 10 times the bike compared to the HD.

Good facts/video! To get the max performance out of the new stock 116 you still need to add a stage 1 exhaust and stage 1 air cleaner (some say a different cam too / info is still coming out). Either way I think it's a nice move by Indian to add the stock 116 & their new Ride Command 2.0 is very nice! I've seen it. Adam, please scratch Scooter behind his ears for me!

Pricey. No wonder why so many riders are sticking with "Jap bikes." The difference to upgrade can buy a great used bike that already has plenty of power on a Honda or Kawi. American bikes have gotten way out of hand as far as prices go. I mean, seriously, we are talking about 2 wheels and a motor, no need other than greed, to charge that kind of money. People started buying bikes in huge numbers as the price of gas rose. The American manufacturers took huge advantage of this and their greed jacked up the prices of their bikes. Now, the price of an American bike is the price of a damn car. It is no longer worth it to own a bike, when spending 30 grand, or more, for a bike that most of the owners hardly ever ride. If they claim American bikes are better, why the need for upgrades to get more power? If I were to buy another American bike, however, it would be an Indian, since my experience in the past owning a HD was not something I care to do again.

@Mike Greer They may not break the bank if buying one used, but why is it low miles? Was it sitting in the garage unused for years? Not good for bike. Was it in not running half the time and in the shop getting very costly repairs? Not good. They may not break the bank, but they DO break down. Yes, even the new ones, albeit not as bad. I got tired of the HD I had in the late 70's into the early 80's. It always seemed to break down 30+ miles from the nearest pay phone, no cell phones back then. I don't care what people ride, I just don't understand the hype for an over-priced, expensive to repair, and not that reliable of a bike. My ass doesn't care what the sticker on the tank says, but my legs got tired of walking and my arms got tired of pushing. Ride safe, Y'all.
@NicePantsLance
@NicePantsLance 4 жыл бұрын
@Mike Greer its hard to justify buying a used bike for the same price as a new bike from another brand. Buddy of mine picked up a brand new triumph bobber for a little under $10k and it kicks the crap out of my other friends 2014 Breakout he got for over $14k. Beats it in every catagory. I love harleys, but its hard to ignore their price gouging

@@FranBunnyFFXII Now add on the extra 1089.00 HD charges for a vivid black SGS. And does the stage 4 work with the stock HF air and slip-ons? The Indian kit price Adam quoted included Air and Exhaust.
@FranBunnyFFXII
@FranBunnyFFXII 5 жыл бұрын
@@DG-america The price I quoted includes Air and exhaust too. Harley's Stage1 kit is cheaper than the Indian stage 1 kit. Every stage is cheaper from Harley than indian, and if you want to save money, you can put the stage 1 and 2 kit together yourself, and head into the shop for your stage 4. Making it even cheaper. Indian doesnt allow you to do this. So again, harley just ends up being cheaper in the long run. Not only that, but check out the pricess on Indian's accessories. Some of them are double, even triple the equivilent from Harley. IT's kind of nuts how much Indian is charging for a Sissy Bar setup.
@DG-america
@DG-america 5 жыл бұрын
@@FranBunnyFFXII Cheapest I found a IV kit was Big Sky HD @2317. So you got slip-ons, oil pump, cam tensioner, SE tuner, and HF air for less than 1300? Not saying its impossible, but if you did, cudos. Not everyone is getting that. But still, tac on that 1089 increase for the initial bike cost.
@FranBunnyFFXII
@FranBunnyFFXII 5 жыл бұрын
@@DG-america Buy it from their site. Dont look at dealers for stuff you can install yourself. Tuner, Pipes and airbox for my Fat Boy cost 900$ And why the fuck are you looking at cam shit? I like watching and listening to motor reviews. At one point in my younger years I chased the more speed and torque in my motorcycles. And I had a blast doing it. Now that I'm older and retired I just ride a 05 1200 sportster with a stage one kit. It has plenty of power and low end torque to make ya giggle when the back end starts to wiggle lol! You have a nice bike and no disrespect to you, but the price tag for that kit is to rich for my blood. But I think all service prices are way over priced just like about everything else at dealerships. Enjoy your motor and have a blast twisting that throttle!

That was a Victory characteristic. I have an Indian '17 RM and I have never experienced it. I have been told by multiple experts that de catting an Indian without adding a PV4 & a custom tune can cause blips in your throttle at low speeds. Its common for many riders to say it's ok to de cat without further mods. I trust my sources that it's not ideal.

You bring up a great point, Adam - I hope everyone heard you... folks like their torque curve in different places. I prefer mine including low rpm's - putting around town I don't want it stumbling. I enjoy taking corners and [sometimes] sliding through intersections in second or even third - where the 111 really shines as a torque beast - and that will largely go away when things are optimized for 3K+ rpm. Great video - enjoy your extra cubes. ;)

What is the difference between upgrading my 111 cui engine or buying a 116 cui 2020 model with the new high flow intake, which is not part of the upgrade? Additional problem, the big bore kit is regular not available in the EU. So you need special sources to oversea! :-)

What if you bought a 3rd party air filter then went to rusty for the exhaust. Will that also void the warranty. I want to get a d&d exhaust but if it’s going to void the warranty. I’m out. Power down low is good for getting away from these idiot cagers here in Florida. I didn't think it was possible but I went out today, I witnessed so much road rage and at least 15 hostile drivers doing dangerous things, all I'm the span of and hour. It was never this bad before.

@@michaelbarras6950 I'm in Seminole county. Orlando is deadly bad to ride it drive a car in. The Misses and I already said we're moving once the kids graduate high school in 5 years. The people have turned nasty, and crime like never before. I'd love to move to North Georgia, N.C. or back to Tennessee where I worked for a couple years. The riding is so much better there.

100HP? That's it? For a stage3? Stage 2 M8 107s are pulling 104~108HP depending on the cam. Stage 2 M8 114s are pulling 114 HP depending on the cam. It looks like Indian needs a Gen 2 Thunderstroke with 8 Valves.

Too bad Harley or Indian can not decrease their bikes weight by 100 pounds for almost the same power gain. Always cheaper for manufacturers to increase horsepower vs trying lighter/more expensive metals. I am surprised that no one has pushed CARBON FIBER wheels on Harley or Indians. Really decreasing that Unsprung weight which helps handling, braking, acceleration and weight.

So buy a $20,000 bike spend $5,000 Performace upgrade and then get smoked by a 600 CC Yamaha R-6 or a 600 CC Honda CB-R which both make 130 HP stock . Or buy a 1 Liter Sports bike that makes 200 HP stock .. Indian FTR-1200 is 123 HP stock also .. as it is a modern design V-Twin water cooled with a similar bore and stork was a 327 Chevy small block car engine..

$4500 not including labor for a stage 3 build on a 116 and you only get 100hp and 127tq? What a rip-off!!!! My HD Stage 3 cost way less with labor and I got numbers way better than that on a 107 to 114 HD build (117HP and 123TQ.)

@@richardedwin5980 And the stage 3 kit is only 1700.00 too. Plus, a 19' SGS is 1089.00 more than a 19' Chieftain. So, add that to your cost for 3ci. Also, if you have a SG, your bike also weighs more, so you can decrease those numbers when comparing.

D G my bike is an 18 RGS with the 107 M8. I spent $25,400 out the door with my trade. I paid $1200 for my Stage 3 kit from Boardtracker HD. Got my FuelMoto Jackpot headers for $400. Labor came out to 13hrs including the dyno time. The 2019RGS is 820lbs vs 790lbs for the Indian Chieftain. Actual curb weight of 19 Chieftain is 827lbs. A 19 Chieftain starts at $21,999 stripped down. The Chieftain Darkhorse & Chieftain Limited start at $25,999. The 19 Road Glide starts at $21,699. The Special at $27,299. So in reality there isn't really as much of a difference as you tried to portray. I think on the end there still isn't enough bang for the buck in the Indian build. But that's just my opinion.

@@fredstraw Because you have two American V-Twin companies. Anything else you buy is a metric bike. If you're buying 2 bikes for 4500 dollars, you're buying metric. You aren't even gunna get 2 old sportsters for 4500, unless you buy both from the same person and one is a parts bike.....maybe. Then I said all 3, because you said you could buy 2, and you already own a Goldwing right? Is it too early for you to keep up?
