I think India should go with DASSULT Rafale if it can deliver all 114 rafale F5 + 36 rafale for navy within 5 years starting with navy version first or it helps us making TEDBF. 100% stake for DRAL is very strange. It should be 50% HAL and 50% DRAL. in this way HAL should also have control. No need to repeat the FGFA mistake. It is not only buying the aircrafts but to learn also. Please try to convince them the earlier conditions in which dassault has promised for ToT. Nodoubt we need rafales but at what cost? Such an expensive aircraft in which we are just allowing them to make the aircraft with 100% control is something unimaginable. HAL should have 50% stake in it.

5 years to deliver everything is bullshit. The deal needs to be signed and production needs to ramp up that already 4 years for the first delivery. Then the idea is to keep the teams busy and the know how alive, not to rush everything and unemployment, factory closes. I would go for 10 iaf per year, 4 to 6 in per year and 4 to 6 export per year. That’s a 15 year plane, enough to that amca can follow up.

I guess most Indians do not know a history, in 1950s, Soviet Union, due to the performance of China in Korea (took 3 month for PLA to kick all the US army out of north Korea), started aids to help China set up over 156 industry complexes, including mig jet factory, for Mig 15-17 (J6) ,, but later in 1960s China Soviet Union relationship turned sour and bad, so USSR canceled the second phase of Mig 21 jet project in China, instead, set up Mig 21 factory in India. however, without USSR, China produced J 7 (mig 21) by itself, later, JF 17 (still based on Mig 21), further, J 10, later after normalization with Russia, China build more Su jets series as J 11 J 16, J 15, and then by its own for J 20 and J31, Indians way of saying they are all copies made no difference in fighting power with PLAAF can wipe out entire IAF in just 2 wks.
