India has to ram up manufacturing capabilities, whether in defense or commercial activities. Going slow motion has been India's earlier path but the rise of China has changed the equation.

It would be better to produce a product in quality and quantity first before you expect it to be " picked" up by any " radar". China has a product under progressive improvement operational. Right now we should make Tejas, Rafael and SU 30 synergistically lethal and not just a deterrence. Improve the targetting and munition quality in adequate quantity.

DRDO should be called rocket and missile research institute because besides these hardly any new thing is developed that is worth being used on defence needs. Aircraft development is 30 years late with no engine in Tejas, floundering in development of TEDBF and AMCA, it seems they are throwing dust into the eyes of tax payer and administrators. What happened on production of Software Radios (SDR), what happened to production (not development) of the friend foe system how many have been employed by the Indian defence, what happened to quantum communication, what happened to Large VHF, UHF radar mobile antenna on multiple four wheel drive vehicles to form an array to detect the J-22. The list keeps on and on, its like a delta function, singularity in missile and then nothing else. Useless institute and I think there should be some court martial for their management. We will keep running at 10 mph trying to win races where everybody runs at 1000 mph. I don't know when we will reach close to other countries, even who were behind us are slowly getting ahead of us. Current Government did speed up, but its not sufficient, its too less and too late. Ashamed of DRDO and its contribution to India, I am not impressed with their development cycles, their attitude and I don't consider them nationalists when they are so behind time. Look at Americans they are 100 steps ahead to defend their country, each one of these DRDO would never have been put up for work to handle critical technology even in Africa, forget about US.
