Nepal and China have agreed to sign a deal for the implementation of Xi Jinping's flagship Belt and Road Initiative in the coming months. The deal has been criticised for its secrecy by lawmakers in Nepal. In Sri Lanka, the Chinese have agreed to expand the Hambantota port and the Colombo International Airport. China is the largest bilateral lender to Sri Lanka, making up 17% of its total foreign debt. Is India losing its grip over South Asia? Why are India's neighbours cosying up to China? To be brutally honest, as an Indian there is no way India can compete with China in terms of resources or soft power. China's main rival is USA not India, so no matter how much we try India's neighbours won't choose India over China, maybe if USA started investing then we will see a shift but even then they will choose between USA and China. All we can do is prepare for a fi.ght with our neighbours if a full scale wa.r actually happens and they side with China. Every nation looks out for their best interest, they know China gives more resources and they can count on India if China tries to take control of their infrastructure or somthing, not that I can blame them they're essentially doing what India does with West and Russia. Also, the current govrnment doesn't really have the greatest image considering how many of our neighbours are Muslim countries.
