No but generally in that case the dada divides the aloo paste into degrees of jhal according to what we want. ATLEAST that's what I've seen. He doesn't mix the spicy and non spicy ones.

For good South Indian food in Los Angeles, you should go to Annapurna(Culver City). They have amazing cheese dosas. For the best experience though, go on a Sunday(they have all you can eat buffet on Sunday). :)
