8:56 I feel like you should have continued this one move further; Qxf6 Bxf6+ to win the rook, or Kh5 Bf7 to win the exchange. Without these options, if white is able to preserve the rook on the 7th rank and keep threats of Bd6 or Ba7, this position would be pretty hard to play. Certainly winning by classical standards, but solid tricks to work with and the best line I thought of until realizing Bf7 existed ended with white having a bishop pair against a rook and 2 pawns, winning but far from trivial.
@flolwaq
@flolwaq 2 жыл бұрын
I cant really follow you, the light bishops are off the board... I assume you are talking about Bf8 and not Bf7 If that's the case black even has a kinda forced continuation after Kh5: Kh5 Qxg6+. Kxg6 Bf8 winning at least a bishop. If white plays Rg7+ black captures the rook Bxg7 and if white plays Re8: Rxe8 Ba7 Be5 and black wins.

Great game by white. Bad blunder of g5 and Bg7 by black threw the game away. He should have already known that the bishop needs to defend a7 square since bishop was already covering that diagonal before he played Bg7. I guess he got greedy and thought he could trap the bishop on h4, but I guess he didn't calculate properly or didn't have enough time to see all the complications and just blundered.
