Travelling by rail in India is an absolute must. Which is why in this video We Will Talk About Indian Railway 1st Ac 2nd Ac And 3rd Ac Coaches
#incredibleindia #trains #indiatrains
India - it will leave a lasting impression on you. It’s like nowhere else in the world. It’s busy, beautiful, chaotic and incredibly diverse.
In This Video We Will Talk About Indian Railway 1st Ac 2nd Ac And 3rd Ac Coaches, What is the Difference Between 1st Ac 2nd Ac And 3rd Ac Coach.
In todays video we’re going to be talking about something that we wish we knew more about before booking trains in india. The differences between classes on Indian railways. Specifically 1st Ac 2nd Ac And 3rd Ac Coaches, What is the Difference Between 1st Ac 2nd Ac And 3rd Ac Coach.
If you’ve seen our other videos you’ll probably have noticed that we didn’t actually know this information at first which is why we’re bringing it all together for you now. Hopefully with this, you guys will be able to make the best choice for your trip.
1AC First Class
Most expensive class, with fares that can be at par with airline fares in some cases. It has spacious, carpeted and lockable compartments with a washbasin. Showers and toilets are available at either end of the carriage.
You cannot specify if you want accomodation in a 2 berth or 4 berth compartment when booking. Couples are usually given preference for 2-berth compartments,
AC 2-tier is found on almost all long-distance trains and is slightly cheaper than AC First Class and around 25% more expensive than non-AC First Class (FC). Coaches are airconditioned with sleeping berths, curtains and individual reading lamps. Berths are arranged in cubicles of four (two upper, two lower) on one side of the aisle, and two above and below the windows on the other side of the aisle. Toilet facilities are available at either end of the carriage. Sheets, pillows and blankets are provided in the evenings.
AC 3-Tier is slightly cheaper than First Class, AC 3-tier is similar to AC 2-tier, but it is more crowded. It lacks the privacy curtains and individual reading lamps found in AC 2-tier. Toilet facilities are available at either end of the carriage.
AC Chair Car is normally found on daytime shuttle or ‘intercity’ trains (for example Mumbai-Pune, Delhi-Agra). There are a total of five seats in a row, three on one side and two on the other side of aisle. Only sitting room is provided, with no standees allowed.

yess... Indians railways is best in the world... and also most affordable way to travel.. from poor to rich... there can be some issues with food quality and cleanliness sometimes in lower classes.. but the amount of passengers it carries everyday is commendable... so all those people who keep complaining about facilities are so dumb that they don't realize how less they are paying for the distance they travel

The Executive Chair Car is much more comfortable with less seats, more leg room and reclining capability and better service and food. It’s a 2+2 configuration which avoids the 3rd seat if you are the unlucky sod to be stuck in it. The ECC option is available only on premium trains like Shatabdi, Tejas etc. Not an option on regular day trains. The AC Chair Car is the run of the mill coach or default class on the premium trains. The regular day trains have AC-CC and that is how high it goes on those. They are legacy ICF coaches so you can notice the difference vs the LHB coaches on the premium trains. One last thing... the free food service is only on the premium trains, be it day trains or long distance night trains. It’s included only on trains that are Shatabdi, Tejas, Duronto or Rajdhani Express Class trains. You can get paid catering done to your seat on other trains. They will deliver your food to your seat during the time of the day. You need to use the IRCTC app to do this. Not sure if there is a manual override option. Also using the ITCTC app gives you access to a facility most tourists are completely unaware of. Retiring rooms. Most train stations have these retiring rooms which is like a hotel. The tariff is very reasonable and it’s located inside the station and clean and if you have to kill 10-12 hrs between trains or take a nap, they are great. You do need a ticket to book one of the rooms and it can be done through the app. They have private rooms as well as dorm style beds depending on your budget. Not many people are aware of the Retiring Rooms on Indian Railways stations and it is a very useful feature for short stopovers or waiting for trains. They usually rent by 12 hr increments up to 48 hrs and you need a ticket you already completed journey on or an onward journey ticket to be able to book one. I wish more people would get informed of the Railway Retiring Rooms.
@SallyAndEd
@SallyAndEd 5 жыл бұрын
Oh wow! We had no idea about the Retiring Rooms! That's so awesome!
@sammywhammy007
@sammywhammy007 5 жыл бұрын
Sally And Ed Yeah they are a very useful feature in Railway Stations. If you checked out of your hotel at noon and have a late night train or changing trains and have waiting time, they are very useful for leaving your luggage (probably not in the dorms) or take a nap or wash up. They are very reasonably priced and great for short stays and located right inside the station. Not many visitors know about them 😀 You need to get set up on the IRCTC app if you are planning another visit to India. It’s a little bit of a hoop to jump through to get setup with a foreign mobile number but once you do, it’s extremely useful for everything train travel related in India. You can even book transportation to your hotel from the train station.

That's really good effort. The level of classification is huge. There are trains classified based on Speed, comfort and number of stops. A particular train is classified by type of coaches, as you explained. All these kind of online/offline bookings are handled by a single IRCTC website.

book anything but never a general(GN or UR), second class sitting (2S) or sleeper(SL),rest all classes are fine Also always prefer Vande Bharat Exppress>Tejas>shatabdi>Rajdhani>Duronto>Humsafar>Garib Rath>Super fast express Apart from these all trains are for regular use ie ,farmers,hawkers,office goers .They are used for short travel,often between city & nearby rural areas Also 1AC ,means 1 Tier AC (in second class) .1AC,2AC,3AC (all are AC) & SL(Non AC) form second class 1AC doesn have any door but a curtain is provided for privacy FIrst class goes by code H1B & few trains carry these coaches.They have a door to close & food is included. Third class is GN,2S.NEVER go in this class.Not even indian middle class(people in 3AC or above) or poor(people traveling in SL) goes into it .From security stand it is the worst kind & you may encounter drunk or violent people.

All of the information that you have given is 110% correct But there is more information and much more In sleeper train you have talked about all the AC categories but there are two non AC categories as well A. Non AC sleeper that is generally referred to as sleeper class which is exactly like the three AC but without AC B. Second is your unreserved class normally referred to as second seating and this is a class where actually all the madness of trying to board a moving train and the madness of boarding the train and all that stuff happens only in that class because it is unreserved Also in day train there are three categories 1. AC chair car that is like economy class on an airplane and the class that you were in 2. AC executive chair car that is like business class on an airplane 3. Anubhuti class this is like the first class on an airplane but this is present in very few trains and even if their present there is only one coach of this type in the entire train. Also there are various types of trains what I just explained above are the types of seating in a normal train but there are certain premium trains which I would like to mention. 1. Rajdhani category of train - these trains are high speed and best trains that you can get for travelling overnight or sleeping train. the categories in type of train are similar to that in a normal train but the facilities provided are much more with more space. There are 24 pairs of this type of train operated by Indian Railways 2. Shatabdi class this category of trains is a premium seating train and the train in which you travelled and mention about. they have High Quality Services free food and everything that you mentioned. 23 pairs of this train are operated by railways 3. Vande Bharat category of trains. This is a very new category of trains. At present there are only two trains of this type available. They are basically train tickets instead of of regular locomotive hauled trains. It is Ultra modern in its Technology and was created in the year 2019. the services in this type of train is equivalent to that of Shatabdi Express. 4. Tejas category of trains this is a corporate sector of the Indian Railways where in the trains are provided by the Railways but all the services are provided by private companies. At present there are only two trains operated under this model but we will have around 150 pair of the string operated under corporate model very soon. 5. Duronto category of train. this category of trains was basically made to connect two cities with large travel demand without any stops in between. But now these trains are eventually fading of the railway network and many of the trains have been converted into other types. Note- you get free food and water only if you travel in any of the above mentioned premium category of train . In any other category that is Mail Express, superfast , intercity etc. you have to purchase your own tea and snacks it is not included in the ticket. Definitely e The Other trains are less expensive and provide less services as compared to the premium category of train. also a special mention to a special type of coach known as vistadom coaches. These coaches have Ultra large windows and sunroof. these coaches are specially manufactured for the roots with lots of cinematic beauty and so the travelers can enjoy the scenes to the level best possible. they are available in very few trains . thanks for reading if you are reading for so long

Sleeper class coaches and General class coaches are also there for overnight trains . Sleeper class berth compositions are the same as AC 3tier but its without AC and no bed rolls pillows are provided though they are reserved compartments . The General coaches are unreserved coaches whoever managed to get the seats they can only sit otherwise they have to stand for the whole journeys. Visit India again in future 😊 .

You got almost all the facts right but there are three more classes in Indian railway In long route trains Sleeper class they are similar to 3rd ac in structure but they are without ac this is the most economical and famous mode of long distance travel in india Another one is general class for this class you don't have to book tickets in advance.... but I won't recommend you to go into it because they got filled like hell almost all the time For short route trains their is another class that is sitting class which is like ac chair car in structure but without ac Another important information is that the catering facilities in Indian railway are only available in premium trains like rajdhani Express, shatabdi Express, Duranto, vande bharat etc. But most of long distance trains have pantry car and provide kind of decent food at decent prices. Hope this helps you and happy to see you guys have some good memories of India

@HopesHere book anything but never a general(GN or UR), second class sitting (2S) or sleeper(SL),rest all classes are fine Also always prefer Vande Bharat Exppress>Tejas>shatabdi>Rajdhani>Duronto>Humsafar>Garib Rath>Super fast express Apart from these all trains are for regular use ie ,farmers,hawkers,office goers .They are used for short travel,often between city & nearby rural areas Also 1AC ,means 1 Tier AC (in second class) .1AC,2AC,3AC (all are AC) & SL(Non AC) form second class 1AC doesn have any door but a curtain is provided for privacy FIrst class goes by code H1B & few trains carry these coaches.They have a door to close & food is included. Third class is GN,2S.NEVER go in this class.Not even indian middle class(people in 3AC or above) or poor(people traveling in SL) goes into it .From security stand it is the worst kind & you may encounter drunk or violent people.

@@SallyAndEd Very useful video! Thanks! Since 25 years I travel sometimes by train in South-India, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, (I live in Germany but I have an Indian wife...), most of my trips I used the SLEEPER CLASS! I never missed an AC, if it doesn't rain, you usually travel with open windows - so you have more "contact to the environment"! Through this open windows you can also buy food at the train stations (good, cheap and fresh). Some years back I traveled with 1st class (Non-AC)-Sleeper, you have more space there (2+2). But it seems that they have stopped these class, as well as the 3. class.

The basic idea of Indian Railways, is somehow to cater from poorest to richest person, everyone deserves to be able to travel, the amenities & comfort will vary obviously. Unlike in Europe etc, being a single ticket, means often travel is too hard on pocket for a lot of lower strung population, but then whats the choice, none to budget it. Not to forget, India also has Luxury trains like maharaja express, no1 world luxury train, like a 5 star hotel etc. And other dozens luxury trains, which are like cruise but on wheels. With 7 day & night, various tours etc.
