Try train 18. I think you will like it. It's one of the best trains in India build completely in India. It's pretty good. But it's a sitting one and not a sleeper one.

Sally And Ed no guys there are many more trains way comfortable than this one like Duronto,rajdhani ,shtabdi and then there is train 18 and then comes the luxury trains which are like pretty expensive but take u on tour of whole Rajasthan and some other places as well. I guess maharaja train is the name and similarly few more are there. It's like running hotel on wheel

When you book your tickets in AC First Class, you’re at the time of booking/reservation only issued a ticket with either a Confirmed or a Wait-listed ticket. If it’s a confirmed ticket then the seat /cabin numbers are not yet mentioned. The seat/berth numbers and the Cabin numbers are assigned only at the time of final charting on the day of departure. The reservations team looks at all the bookings in the Ac First class and then depending upon the profile of,the passengers, such as Senior travelers, solo travelers, families, couples etc., and then they do their best to allot the seats and cabins With the intent to make it convenient to the best of the available seats. The final allotment is then posted on the Reservation Charts with names and the assigned berths and cabin numbers which is then stuck outside at the entrance to the coach. The passengers are also informed about their seating numbers 3- hours before the departure of the train from its origin by way of an SMS on the registered mobile numbers. The Traveling Ticket Examiner (TTE) also commonly referred to as the Conductor carries with him the final reservation charts and verifies with on board pax and directs them to the dear allotted seats/berths/cabins. I suppose Sally and Ed were not aware of this mode of seating allotment.

Actually in first ac you get your seat no after chart is completed....and chart is prepared before 2-3 hrs of starting of train....so you have to check it either on the station or with tt

Not true. The coach has 18 sleepers arranged in 3x 4 sleeper cabins and 3x 2 sleeper coupes. What you get allocated is determined by the allocation people on Indian Railways done only hours before the departure time.

Hi Sally and Ed, I'm an Indian and all my life I had the same impression that 1AC should have 1 tier, as you mentioned lol as I don't travel much via trains and I'm not living in India for past 5 years but I only recently confirmed again that 1AC doesn't mean 1 tier, it always has 2 tiers just more spacious as compared to 2AC where you'll have one more two tier births on your side after walkway passage :) that you don't in 1AC. I love trains and now when I visit to India I will take them. From Mumbai... :) I hope you enjoy your time and journeys ahead. Best wishes

And some short distances trains with general compartments would have just seating chairs or benches and trains like train 18 for example have another class called Executive Class, but that's different story, my above comment was for most or almost all long distances trains in India ☺️
