Please keep the videos coming!! THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE CHANNEL!!!!! I've been trying to cook some of these dishes for many years, but they always turn out bland. That is, until I found your video on making curry paste. From there, my cooking really took off. Thank you so much!!!

Yum! What foods would you eat this with? Is it just an accompaniment to any meal?
@HappyBellyfish11 ай бұрын
It is served as an accompaniment to a meal that is usually a cooked grain( rice, flatbread or millets ), lentils and some vegetables. Other interesting ways to eat it would be to add it to falafel bread along with other ingredients or serve it alongside Humus.

How about til oil or p3anut oil?do we need to heat these
@HappyBellyfish11 ай бұрын
They are not as pungent as mustard oil heating is not necessary. Til/Sesame oil especially the cold pressed ones may have a very strong odour and if you are averse to that then you may heat it. Peanut oil is rather sweet, so heating is not necessary.

Thanks for your videos, I've tried some of your recipies and was very pleased. There's one question: Googled for mustard oil and all the results say that it is for external application only. Even the search results from indian stores. Can this warning be ignored or do I have to dig deeper?
@HappyBellyfish11 ай бұрын
In the USA, Mustard oil is prohibited for consumption, which is why the labelling indicates that message, even on Mustard oil that has been sourced from India. The grounds for such a ban are beyond my understanding since a large healthy population here consumes it with no adverse effects at all. I believe that it is important to understand the sampling that was collected for research. A few years ago even coconut oil was regarded as a villain, thankfully it wasn't banned.

@@HappyBellyfishThanks verry much for your answer. I made a first batch with olive oil. Next time I go to the indian store I will ask them for a recommendation on mustard oil.

@@exhale2348 Ask for Kachi Ghani Mustard oil. It is not a brand but it means cold-pressed mustard oil. It will be darker in appearance.

I was just looking for proper desi pickle recipe, cld not find the right thing. I’ve never seen these vegetables in pickle, nor thought the way is to boil these things either. Perhaps that’s a different type of achar, not vegetables, but chilli and carrot etc
