It's only Disney really doing this, namely with Lucasfilm and Pixar. Idk what their kick is. People want more fun movies, and not all fun movies have to be MCU-esque, they can be more Top Gun-like or Spider-Verse-like, where there's still an emotional core and powerful moments during the film, but they're a lot of fun and funny anyway. Idk how Kathleen Kennedy still has a job at this point, she really needs to be fired.

Wondered about this thirty years ago, when one show ended on an "ambiguous" note. Everyone said it was great, but some people who thought about it, had questions. One critic said if you thought otherwise, you didn't understand what the show was about. Always remembered that.

Ever notice how Kennedy always uses a young brunette woman, who tries to overshadow an older male. And the older male is never allowed to give any wisdom or instructions to this new younger female protagonist? The brunette female protagonist is always perfect and knows it all from the start. This is a classic example of a self-insert and why she has been awful for lucasfilms.

Yesterday I spoke to someone seeing _Across the Spider-Verse_ for the second time. He said he saw it early, enjoyed it, and was now bringing a friend or two with him. That's how a movie becomes a blockbuster. _Guardians 3_ wasn't quite that successful, but people seem to be still going to it; not sure how many people are seeing it more than once; same with _Transformers._ D&D fans didn't see their movie early (because they were busy or annoyed with Hasbro?), didn't come back to see it again with normal people, so it bombed. And it looks like the same happened for _The Flash._

Hi Grace! I think why the film worked for me was because Indy, in a way, is a relic- and at 48, I already feel like a relic compared to all the crazy, chaos and whackness in today’s politics and more. So - I see that unappreciated classroom and two sidekicks not worth saving, to mirror so much of today. Yet Indy, sure more pessimistic, but at least he was still true to Indy, picking people and history over capitalism and hedonism.

pretty much as the other comment says ESG, its about destroying the legacy of a male hero to put in a female character, its about emasculating and destroying male role models to make "new ones" that won't have any of those "problematic traits" and female heroines that act like guys, all social engineering

"Disney...why is continuing franchises so difficult for you?" I'm guessing it's because they're continuing franchises that others began. Lucasfilm did Star Wars and Indiana Jones, Pixar did Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story. Just because Disney bought something, doesn't mean they understand what makes it work.

Thank you for your review. This plays into my opinion of Post-Modern story telling. I don't care for it, because it seems to be inconsistent as to what I like in movies. The movies that I enjoy are adventurous, funny, or fantastical. I go for escapism and fun. So I will probably skip this at the movie theater.

Grace, the reason why Indiana Jones is the way he is in this movie is simple. He's a straight white man and a hero of the old days. Naturally when a high position woman is involved in the production, first thing in the agenda book is to make him incompetent, stupid and weak. Don't be upset. You get what you asked.

I enjoyed the film for the most part. But it is frustrating how so many films don't show the moments things change for a character. Bridge was decent at the tale end with her speech when she showed some compassion...but it was a long time coming. The story itself could have been decent with some lightness, some camaraderie, and maybe some trading of lessons. Unfortunately there was very little of that.

This movie weirdly reminds me of how No Time to Die was perceived by the bond fans. Similar types of character arcs too and similar "choices" that go against what we know has been established for the character in previous instalments. I felt it was fine (like I felt No time to Die was fine) but some choices were bizarre. I really liked they swung for the fences in the last act though!
