Indians were used by the British, as UNSKILLED LABOURERS, to build railways; that required no technical knowledge; the British did that to make Africans THRID CLASS citizens. The Indians that were expelled were those who: (1) Invested their money abroad (2) Refused to become Ugandan citizens (3) Treated the Africans badly Many who emigrated abroad had to work hard for their living and subsequently returned to Uganda. The deterioration of the Ugandan economy, after the Indian flight, was a result of British and other international sanctions, similar to those placed on Zimbabwe. After the Ugandan Government compensated the Indians, sanctions were lifted. The Economy then picked up, thus giving the appearance that Africans could not manage their countries without Indians or Europeans.
