"We shouldn't use playtesting to find out what a game is." This is a brilliant way of putting it! Changing the core game after play testing is a last result thing, but "making sure this is the experience I wanted" is the perfect use. It's nice to have it put so eloquently!

5:06 "As creators, it's very important that we never make the mistake of thinking that Punk work is without intent." PREACH, I've been trying to convince people of this as a broader art principle for years.

This man is not punk rock. But he's still awesome and the talk was great.

Shadow is the ambient light colour. Rather than setting it directly to blue, try environment mapping (easy polish), or putting a sky light directly in the scene.

Great point: punk attitude and creativity is not the excuse for incompetence and lazy.

Great talk! Excellent points. Nearing the polishing phase myself, and have somehow convinced myself it'll only take a couple weeks 😂

Good voice acting IS expensive, well, at least, for indie's pockets. Poor voice acting can break your game.

Is it ok to just settle with other peoples games and self publish their affiliate release ..ie ..their promotions becomes your games marketting effort .

I'm a sound designer, imagine what your reaction would be if i never bother to polish the assets I've created for your game. Imagine I left the high end hiss is, or looped it poorly and obviously or recorded the low end hot and left it in. Imagine that you're paying me for these assets. Would you? Would you pay me for low quality work that would make your game shit? Or would you tell me to jog on and find another, more professional sound designer? As a game dev, imagine what your player's reaction would be if you never bother to polish the game you've created. Imagine you just left the bugs in. Imagine that you couldn't be bothered to sort out your UI. Imagine that you'r players are paying you for this game. Would they? Would they pay you for low quality work that would make your game shit? Or would they tell you to jog on and find another, more professional game?

Naming video "Indie Polish" with capital letters is misleading.
@ZoidbergForPresident

No, because it means polish while you are indie. What you're mixing it up with is "Polish Indie". :D

Nice click bait, why did you use capital letter in "Polish" if it's about "Indie polish"?
@RomanSteiner_xD

It's called "title case". You may have noticed that the words "Making", "Most" and "Last" also start in upper case.
@Yossi99
@Yossi99 7 жыл бұрын
I am aware of that, that's why when constructing titles you have to try to avoid words which when capitalized may introduce confusion.

That's the nature of the beast. You can't expect the English language to convey ideas perfectly. It's flawed

If I thought that this was about indie games made by Polish people by the subtitle "Making the Most of the Last 10%", wouldn't that would that suggest that I believe game devs from Poland are the last 10% of indie devs in the world? And that the world needs to make the most of them because of this statistic? Or perhaps the confusion happens because some people read only "Indie Polish" and don't read the rest. That's just my thinking though. I'm not trying to be volatile, just trying to understand why confusion would be an issue in this case.
