I can summarize the 17 minute video for you. Her 1st and 2nd lab test were no different. Both detected the same level of SIBO. She used the AIRE with her second test and it correlated quite well with the lab test, which concluded that the AIRE is an effective way to measure h2 and methane.

Hi. I have SiBO for at least 4 years. I tried herbal treatment a few times, didn’t work. I took around 5 rounds antibiotics all together. Nothing helped. Also I was always on low food map diet. Now , I am on my elemental diet for already 14 day, no food. Plan is 30 days without food. Will see. Good luck to you. It’s hard, this disease is a nightmare.

I hope this is helpful (although it may hit differently at first)- Neither of those show a positive sibo test. For lactulose, US guidelines say to use a 90 min cut-off, Euro guidelines say to use a 60 min cut-off, and most researchers say we shouldn't be using lactulose to try to diagnose sibo at all. There was a really good paper last year titled "small intestinal bacterial overgrowth syndrome: a guide for the appropriate use of breath testing." I highly recommend checking it out and/or sending it to your doc for them to read. Regardless of your sibo status, I wish you the best of luck in your healing journey!
@IndigoNili2 жыл бұрын
Very interesting. I looked for the paper but I can't seem to find it without paying for the pdf. I'll keep looking. I'm curious... are you saying that neither of my tests show a positive for sibo simply because they used lactulose (which is unreliable) or does it have to do with the numbers themselves? Even if using the Euro cut-off, I had a hydrogen rise of 32ppm on the first test and 77ppm on the second test at the 60 minute marks which I had thought was a clear positive...? Is this video of yours from a year ago about reading breath tests still your approach? kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWbOaYKJga-baLs If not I'd love to hear what your preferred method of diagnosis is! It was suspected that I had SIBO due to Scleroderma Autoimmune Condition…I was Keto for two years and now I am strict Carnivore and since consuming only Beef Bacon Butter and Eggs and supplements of 2 Tbl Spoons of Braggs ACV in 16 ounces of water after every meal and Mega Doses of Vitamin B1 (Benfotiamine) 2400mg a day…all is well. I think that any type of sugar, like cane or stevia or artificial sweeteners, cause gastric disturbances in the gut and small intestine if you have an autoimmune disease, as the gut allows the sugars to bypass the blood stream and are instead moved through the intestines as unprocessed food causing the bacteria in the small intestine and beyond.

I haven't followed your gut story fully. I've seen several of your egg whites bread videos. Which always look very delicious, btw. Egg whites do a number on my gut and my autoimmune issues. Even egg yolks do if I eat them more than once or twice a week. In order for me to not have any kind of gastro issues as far as bloating or gas goes I have to stay very strict carnivore. I'm talking beef, venison, fish, elk, butter, and salt with the occasional hard cheese. I prefer Gouda, but I have to be very strict with myself unless I'm ok with having the tummy issues I know will follow. Especially constipation. Pork gives me the same issues eggs does. Heavy cream will, too, if I eat it multiple times a week or in a large amount. My number one food that is carnivore approved but I definitely can't eat without negative gut impact is egg whites though. Every single time I've made an egg white bread, as delicious as it might turn out, my gut swells up and I have horrible gas issues. Enough so that I'd rather just not have the bread. I've been carnivore for 17 months now. Was keto before that. Vegetarian keto, vegetarian, vegan, Paleo before. Each lasting various lengths of time. Another thing that causes real gut swelling gassy issues in me is the alternative sweeteners. They don't send me running to the toilet, but if I were to take a waist measurement before eating and after eating, it'd be three inches or so difference. I'm sharing this only because your food always looks delicious. Very, very tasty. If I ate it, I'd be having all sorts of tummy and autoimmune issues. We're all very different, of course, but maybe they contribute to the symptoms? I hope you're able to find some relief and answers soon. Thank you for sharing your updates. 🦋

I finally tested positive for IMO last year as the testing finally became available in my area. This is before I found out that you can order the test now yourself and do it at home. I did two rounds of antibiotics last year, Xifaxan and metronidazole, and then a round of anti-microbial two months ago. Both of them completely destroyed my gut and I haven’t been right since. I tried low FOD map, but it seems like anything I eat now causes terrible pain bloating and gas in my gastrointestinal tract. It feels like the inside of my stomach and my intestines are scorched. My next step is to try the Allicin, berberine, oregano, and neem. If that doesn’t work, I don’t know what I’m going to do. I have been all but bedridden for the past year.😢

I feel your pain. I have always had gut issues but was doing fantastic after switching to a plant based diet. I had a upper respiratory infection 6 months ago and had to take antibiotics. It wrecked my gut. Wrecked it. I hardly have a need for a bathroom anymore and am always uncomfortable. I can't afford medical insurance so I need to go this alone and am hoping that a food marble would help me to figure this out.

Look into *biofilm disruptors.* My research suggested them for SIBO, and the iron that I take (lactoferrin with colostrum) is also clinically proven to be a biofilm disruptor. There are several other good biofilm disruptors if you don't want the extra iron. But apparently these are a good therapy for killing SIBO. Something worked for me, at any rate.

I am struggling with GI track issue and went through a lot of testing include GI map with H pylori. If you can ,ask your doctor if she can order you a test or you can get it yourself . H pylori will contribute to Sibo and will increase hydrogen bacteria in your Gi track. It also lives on Iron and since you are anemic it can be the culprit. Good luck!

While i have my concerns over a carnivore diet i would probably restrict some of your higher carb foods this time…. My guess is the bacteria get a snack while they’re still up in your small intestine and then eventually die in your colon which correlates with the score (maybe?) Thank you for vlogging your journey! Ive had loose stools for close to 7 years with no resolution yet (ive spent thousands on tests, had to finally step away for a bit)

I failed sibo many times and it took me a lot of time to understand this why. I think most pepople make this mistake. You have to stay away from lactulose, inulin and fos while you eradicate. By eradication i also mean yogurt. For most people phgg(optifiber, sunfiber) is ok. In my case it feeds sibo. So do not use inulin in your yogurt unless you are 100% there is no left over after fermentation, which is impossible. I think you could just do potatoe starch. Dr davis uses sunfiber but i would say a couple of people react to it.there is one safe prdbiotic but dont think it helps with yogurt but does increase butyrate. I have to find it. So just do potatoe starch. For difficult cases dr hawrelak now does 5 weeks low foodmap. Unfortunately dr siebecker (not sure how to spell) uses too strong of a protocol from beginning and that kills the microbiome. I know thus for sure. I hope some of this helos you

this may sound stupid, but when I have a new health issue I tend to look at what I'm doing differently or to excess. have you considered that some ingredients in the egg white bread that you make so often and I assume eat a lot of could be causing the sibo?

Good morning, I also bought an Aire 2. You mention that for example 5 on Aire 2 corresponds approximately to 5x in ppm for hydrogen. What about methane Thanks!
@healthylongevity5051 Жыл бұрын
There are mechanistic animal studies showing the L reuteri stimulates release of growth hormone and also of major note that the size of the thymus gland increased ( it normally shrinks by about 90% as we age. I think that study was 2016. Those two facts, about the growth hormone and thymus gland are related to the very first age reversal publication in 2019 by Fahy and Horvath et al. They used growth hormone and metformin as the main interventions and showed a major reduction in amount of fat in the thymus, by MRI, so this was considered a sign of age reversal along with the methylation data. So this is a major big deal that this probiotic does so many things and maybe we should consider what you are viewing as a temporary intervention for SIBO, to be part of a overall full time lifestyle change? Or at least until better probiotics show up in the studies? I really like your attitude and respect for honesty and being scientific. Keep it up Indigo!

HI thanks for the video, very useful info. I’ve been inspired by a couple of your videos and think you explain things very well. I’ve read some of your notes and noticed gutmicrobiomequeen commented that the results didn’t show positive and then had a conversation with you elsewhere. I have read the article saying that lactulose is less reliable than glucose, is this the only reason why? Both of the tests seem to be more or less picking up the same results apart from the 1 spike above 50PPM, so this seems pretty convincing that it would be positive? Would be great to hear back from you. Thanks
@wally43502 жыл бұрын
There is a little more nuance when it comes to the Aire device, each step from 1-8 = 5ppm (ie. 8 on the air device = 40ppm). But this doesn't apply to the steps from 8-10. They might be introducing a ppm score in the app in a future version. You can hear the inventor discussing the details here kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHO0mYimhJiMsLM . Thanks again for sharing your journey and I hope you get your breakthrough soon.
@vipulnaik14 ай бұрын
Yea I was about to make the same comment! Looking at the original scores at kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6qXomyGbLqJhpI I think this could pretty much explain what's going on as a reading of 9.5 likely corresponds to a very high ppm reading and I think the correctly extrapolated hydrogen value would be in the ballpark of the official breath test result.

It looks like there was some improvement, so it is not a total loss for what you did first. One thing to remember is the ratios where the Aire 2 device could be a plus/minus range, but it seems to be following the lab test and like you say it seems pretty accurate once you get below that 50 ppm. So the push now is to find something that can get you below that 50 ppm mark. The problem we have today with interpreting LHBT results is the need for more intelligent training by practitioners. This includes the lab technician(s). As a functional medicine consultant, I have seen many LHBT results being misinterpreted because of the lack of attention paid to the patient. I always said that practitioners need to treat the patient who has the disease, NOT the disease that the patient has. This is a big problem. SIBO is no different. Many things need to be considered, such as preparation protocols, being aware of the high probabilities of false positives and negatives, and the transit time of that particular patient. For example, never test when the patient has diarrhea. There is a lot to consider when interpreting these tests. Lactulose has been shown to speed up the orocecal transit time, but it's not a factor in your case. We also must understand that the small intestine is about 22-25 feet long. The 3 major sections of the small intestine are the upper (duodenum), mid (jejunum), and end (ileum). A good interpreter should be able to tell you approximately where the overgrowth is most likely located in the small intestine. This is very important for many reasons I won't get into now. So, according to your recent and August tests, you now have lower fermentation in the 5-foot large intestine, BUT you have a much higher peak at the 60 min mark of H2 in your small intestine. You have more small intestinal hydrogen-producing gas now than in your August test. There are many reasons for this. This isn't really about the gases per se; it's much more about the species of bacteria producing these gases. I wouldn't worry about the methane at 11 ppm. Yes, it means you have IMO, but when we lower the hydrogen, we lower the methane because for every molecule of methane, the methanogens need 4 molecules of hydrogen.

please check into your stomach acid levels.....low levels will certainly add to SIBO

I get concerned that you are still using the yeast in your bread, which I feel could be causing more issues. I know I do not tolerate yeast of any kind and am prone to candida overgrowth so am very careful. It is sad because I so love the smell of yeasty bread.

Your calculations with % in hydrogen and methane are wrong because hydrogen and methane ppm has different weight in ppm, because their molecule size are different

You should have had a test for all 3

How do you know where the measured gas is coming from. Couldn't it be coming from the large intestine as well as the small intestine? ANd if it's coming from the large intestine, then it's not SIBO, it's LIBO, or maybe LIBO is not a disease in the same way that SIBO is. On the subject of antimicrobials, my experience of them is that they're worse than useless. I say that because they don't seem to reduce the SIBO but what they do do is tax the kidneys and liver because they're kind of poisons, sure theyre a natural poison but the body sees them as toxic for the most part and tries to get rid of them. ANyway, this video may have been supplanted with newer information that I haven't gotten to.

I think that in your case your diet is not sufficient. and that's because of the lectins in the food. you eat tomatoes, peppers and chicken and these foods are high in lectins. and therefore there is no improvement.

How disappointing. I have a feeling it is going to take much longer to get rid of the SIBO. Whichever way you go, I hope that you can finally get rid of it. SO frustrating.

I would beg you and anyone watching who's struggling with Sibo to watch this video. My reason for saying it is less about the Aire device but what she explains about breath tests, sibo etc. And she makes some truly great points about using an Aire device to assess yourself. I've learned so much from her and this video summarizes some of the information i've learned that is most valuable kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3jTkKp3rq2Hjqssi=fyC7wRw4FIC3rsos

Indigo had very low ferritin levels so anything that can help her absorb iron better will be extremely useful to her overall health 💛
@a.macdonald48772 жыл бұрын
@@Annalwayslearning The ferritin issues is not low iron but bio-unavailable iron(stuck in the tissue)...iron is one on the most ubiquitous elements on earth, but(according to the research of Morley Robbins Root Cause Protocol) copper is needed to utilize the bio-unavailable iron...our soils are depleted of copper. so many soil grown foods have little to no copper(most of the copper should come from food sources like grassfed beef/organs, bee pollen, I take green lipped mussel powder as well) excess calcium and phytates in the diet can also block copper absorption(so forget about those green smothies) Check out the Root cause protocol for deeper information if interested

That’s how I got rid of my SIBO!! No more symptoms at all!!
@JadeFairbanks Жыл бұрын
@@amandacarnivorelifeforce But what happens when you try to eat a regular diet? If you get bloating and digestive issues, didn't actually cure your sibo. It's just hibernating while you're on carnivore. That's how it worked for me, and I don't wanna be on carnivore for the rest of my life so I am searching for alternatives.
@amandacarnivorelifeforce Жыл бұрын
@@JadeFairbanks I took allicin and oil of oregano with keto for 6 months and I still had symptoms. I followed my naturopaths plan with pre and probiotics. I have now had two negative breath tests. Now, I can eat lettuce (which made my bloating and diarrhea the worst). I still am sensitive to some foods like sweet potatoes, green beans and corn. I understand that you don’t want to be carnivore forever. I felt that way until I started feeling so good that I don’t want anything that created pain, bloating and nausea. I hope you find what helps you.

I did carnivore for 8 months and was still having problems. I'm now investigating this l. reuteri yogurt, which is how I found you today, and the Aire 2 in case I actually have SIBO, but I was under the impression that it shouldn't be SIBO because that 8 months would have fixed it!
