@robertharrison87625 жыл бұрын
somewhat a sls (surf life saving) event would have been nice for the commentators and athletes alike to actually do some research into open water swimming and boarding. announcers be talking smack about the prone position when for a short 1000m paddle the drag reduction you get makes you so so much faster. obviously to achieve this you require good technique including paddle (hand) efficiency and balancing using the lower half of your legs. in terms of swimming, doing breastroke is a terrible waste of energy and an instant slow down. the 4-5 stroke breathing to one side then head up check is an easy technique to learn and would have helped everyone in the field. despite this, these athletes are incredible all-rounders and its great to see the variety in the crossfit games.
@gothamgoon42375 жыл бұрын
Don't agree with that. Prone is way harder on the shoulders and not as efficient. You get more pull through the water on your knees and you are using other muscles instead of just relying on your shoulders the whole time. You get big burnout if you use nothing but your shoulders from swim then to paddle board. If there was no swim before it or any other exercise that needed shoulder strength than I would agree with you to a certain extent but knee boarding is way more efficient use of your power, endurance and other muscle groups.

I don't get it. On a paddle board you get on your knees like Tia did. Every Aussie knows this. You get more pull and more efficiency. Why on earth all the other girls are going prone is baffling. As the commentator also said you get to rest your shoulders more and use more lats and hips. Every Aussie who has any time at the paddle board or lives near the beach knows this is the technique for paddle board. Ask a Surf life saver. Tia is definitely a Aussie. Only one in the field who knew the correct technique. Love ya Tia. Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, oi, oi ,oi!
