I hope in the next FM game Gegenpress is not so overpowered. Now everyone is using a higher defensive line with much higher press and get stuck in. The AI needs to find a way to counter it with long balls. Or maybe even "look for fouls" since everyone is tackling harder and it doesn't seem to have and drawbacks.

I agree. And not just that, the other systems that are more defensive (or balanced) need to offer more. If they were effective, everyone wuldn’t need to rely on high-intensity tactics all the time. They use it because it works.

On the press interview after the match, the manager of Indonesia said in Indonesian language that they used some Opposition Instruction on key players of Germany team. Too bad the translator didn't understand about the FM term and couldn't translate it better.

I don’t use too many team instructions. After watching FIFAe, I feel bad for not using too many team instructions. But the gamers in FIFAe had a squad packed with best players. Will that tactic work in SkyBet League 2 with below average players? I doubt it. You might have way too many injuries, and tired players to even start the next game. In the end, you have to work with the players you have. That’s why the first advice still stands. As your team gets better, you can go crazy aggressive if you want.

You need to have almost full understanding of the game to use that many instruction. In case of casual gamer, you dont need to and instead focus on something more general rather than going 10 hours to tweak the instructions.

yeah, i agree most of them used the best performing tactic on fm arena or a slightly tweaked version of it. even south africa''s cool looking asymmetric tactic is a tweak of gasp v4. some guys who played somehat original formations sadly didn't perform as much as the others though. i would have liked to see peru, belgium, malaysia or norway do better and somehow make it to semifinals but it wasn't to be. so my fear for the next event is everyone will come with a similar version of the best tactic in fm arena and it will be more of an rng thing to go through the league phase, which is not healthy for an esport i think

No bro, and anyone that tell you they do is probably lying. FM24 Match Engine is too random. You can win a lot and score 7 goals in some games, but to score 4+ goals in everygame for 38 games is almost impossible.

I agree, but that's a major tournament, and they had access to some of the best in-game players in the game. I fell that's why the overpowered tactics worked to a treat. But will the same tactic work in non-league and lower leagues?

Thats why they dont buy marquee player, instead they makesure to have a very balanced team so their bench is as strong as the 11start.

FM is not an esport.. they won using meta tactics and meta opposition instructions…I could teach a monkey to do the same. If you watch the other teams in the competition when they were losing they did nothing in response to what was happening. They are not skilled just playing the formation that they believe is meta. Everyone saying could these players go into real football……DREAM ON. Pep doesn’t click tackle harder and press more 😊

There's all the aspect of team management, training and the transfers. The tactic meta is just like any moba or RTS, people with statistics knowledge will do some sort of experiment and discover it, it's sports interactive job to balance it out. But if you think deep, there's metas in real life also because of analytics, the narrow width and low crosses are just aligned with the changes that xG made to the game.
