I wish you could have your own channel, too, or maybe even a Sabrina Segment. I thought of this randomly when you both were eating okonomiyaki (during your Japan travels) and said the one you had was good, but you'd had better elsewhere. And I thought, "Hmmm, what if there was a Sabrina Segment, where she traveled within the vicinity she's in and specifically reviews one particular thing, in search of the "best" one--like okonomiyaki." Just an idea! You both are great, and we hope to see more of you, too!

West sumatran Native here. This is an amazing content and so well research. West sumatran (minangkabau people) is like the italians in western world. The stereotype of the people here either work as a merchant ( own a clothing store) or own a restaurant and yes most of us can cook pretty well, it's part of the training when you were a youngsters. One thing that it's a big sin for us when we create a dishes, that it can not be a flat flavour, each food must have an experience or a trip when you eat them. Greasy yes.. for Luke and sabrina, you guys were able to handled the heat in Pasar Raya ( the market ). That is such an achievement, I bet the humidity like 98% and maybe 32C or 90fahrenheit. Anyhow, my hometown is the city to go to indulge your pallet. Bukittinggi is everything. Best of luck!

The cracker you explained was not actually from starch. Its made from cow's skin, had it sun dried, and fried. We call it rambak / kerupuk kulit.

The round fruits you ate are known as Lanzones in the Philippines and is abundant in the month of September. It could be sweet or sour depending on the fruit... but if you get a sweet one... it is delicious and addicting! The fruit wedges inside may contain a large seed inside or none. Tropical fruit that is a must try! Enjoy!

There’s a ton of stories about nasi padang. But one in particular was that a lot of foreigners think that they have to eat what is served in the table. My teacher used to have a boss from India, he (the boss) almost ate the whole table. My teacher told him to eat the one he wants to pay. His boss then said if I can finish the whole table, I’ll pay the whole thing and I’ll treat the whole table. Lmao 😂

Minute 16,that kerupuk it's not from tapioca, but it's from beef skin, the process is burn the skin until clean and cut small shape and dry in under sunlight. And after that fry it in hot oil in very very Big workpan.
