This act can been be seen as a diplomatic. It is to be done as China is willing to construct a dam over Brahmaputra.

Diplomatic or not it will surely have tremendous negative impact on environment. For example Three Gorgeous dam in China it's an engineering marvel but disastrous one it produces huge amount of electricity, probably more than required but it's effect on surrounding environment is questionable. India doesn't have proper rehabilitation policy in place as of now also the dam will be built in Kashmir which has problems of its own. If government ensures proper rehabilitation of community which will be affected due to construction, and if development is their first priority and not diplomacy than it's good. But maybe we're naive to assume that.

@@rwolverinekashid5825 yes, for every developmental project there are issue but it is high time to concentrate on power consolidation. With the use of technology we can reduce negative impacts atleast to some extent. Moreover such development can give a sense of positive impact in that region as explained by sir in advantages. My view is more of interms of power and counter hegemony and also I do welcome your views.

We are violating Indus water treaty as per pak, So how it will impact on Indo-Pak-US relations, rather Joe Bidan was against of article370 and NRC.
