Man, I just can't wrap my head around the whole "flex will automatically engage 2-4 more pawls depending on how much torque is applied" thing. I'm sure they've done their homework, but my admittedly simple mind sure likes the "entire face of a DT ratchet always engaging, no matter what" scenario much better..... Great video as always guys! Your channel is so freakin' good.

We hear ya - the whole concept of any hardened material bending is tough to get a true grasp on. The best way to truly see it is under a microscope, but that's a tough angle to get a video of. However, we tested the product for 2+ years and got plenty of field samples out before our launch to ensure we could 100% stand behind the product. Hope you get a chance to check it out!

I have a 2016 Focus Raven max SL with DT XRC 1200 and upgraded to the 54 tooth hub, sounds so cool and I really cant imagine anyone needing more engagement. Yeah the more engagement pawls the better and those teeth look so tiny so lets see how things work in the real world after some time and abuse, have to admit they do look hotttt on a high end bike

I think i9 should offer the old Torch hub with the updated end caps, and pawl system. Seems like leafs could give the same pressure as the springs without being so apt to wanting fly away. Some of us want our wheels loud. Other ideas would be to put stiffer leafs in the Hydra hubs to make it louder. Either is an option many of us would pay extra for. 1. Stiff leaf pack for the Hydra, $29.95 cant see 6 pieces of metal costing much more. 2. Torch 2.0 updated torch hubs. With the same loudness you always loved. Same price as Hyda
@industrynine3931
@industrynine3931 5 жыл бұрын
You can always make Hydra louder by adding oil. It's admittedly a slightly different sound due to the increased teeth on the drivering, but definitely can get pretty loud if that's what you're looking for!

how do they hold up under trials use? those tiny pawls do not fill me with confidence. Also see you moved to leaf springs like Hope and away from your coil springs. Looks like Hope had it right all along. You're still in their shadow in terms of pure engineering. You make your hubs from bar stock and hope uses forged blanks, far far superior from hope as the forgings are stronger and lighter. Bar stock is much cheaper than getting a custom forged blank made up and the associated tooling costs, yet the cost of your hubs are crazy. You should really be priced the same or less than hopes.You use a2 tool steel inserts and your pawls are made in the exact same way as hope do. Hope also seem to have a far more advanced and up to date production facility compared to industry 9 , based on the available factory tour videos publicly available.
