These Howard's are a great setup for even offroading as well so you don't have to keep grabbing the hand speaker mic for the 50w unit or even the handy talkie

Scott, another great video as always. I guess I’ve bought too much gear over the years, because ironically I have a set of each of these headsets that I had forgotten about. Now I can spend less than $100 outfitting both of them. 👍

Nice. I've experienced the same thing many times. I go digging for something in my garage and discover stuff I forgot I had and can't remember why or when I bought it. It's always a nice surprise.

Thanks for the video. I bought the Razor muffs to replace some old Caldwell electronic muffs I've had for years. I can't believe how noisy the Razors are! Even the $20 Caldwell muffs I had been using didn't have all the static-like noise. I ordered a set of Impact Sports after seeing your video. I can't believe the Walkers Razors wouldn't get a fix to make them less annoying.

I do agree the Walker pass through is amazing when the batteries die but the audio quality on the Howard's is 80 times better being it is heard with both ears vs mono audio on the walkers @KS6DAY

I’m glad I found your video. I’ve been looking around for a headset for coms and other. I’m not an airsofter, roleplayer, larper or what ever you want to call it but have a need for a set like this. I’m intrigued. But did you hear anything about the earmor m32 mod4. Supposedly, they are good ear pro that are waterproof and come with the boom mic for about 100 as well. I’m on the fence about which option to go with

Great job on the video. I've used Impact sports for years, I have the chest mic setup now but this seems much handier, think I will upgrade. Then use the chest mic/earpiece setup when no firearms are involved.

This is a great video! Thank you! I do have Walker Razers and I installed the Walkie Talkie set up on it, not so bad. I also have Peltor Comtac V and Comtact VI with PTT. Both Peltors are super comfy! Yeah the Comtac VI with single download is $1,100 or so. My Peltor V set is attached to my ballistic helmet. I never tried the Howard Leights but your review is concise and wish I saw it before I bought the Walkers. I’ll use the Walkers on occasion or use as a loaner but my go to are both Peltors.

Just got my Howard Leight and boom mike kit. Went together with no problems and everything worked right out of the box. Purchased to use with my Kenwood and TYT amateur radios in loud noise environments (Such as parade marshalling near a marching band practicing) Reports from other hams .on the audio quality the mic were outstanding. The only issue I have is a motorboating sound in my headset when transmitting on DMR. It does not affect the outgoing transmission so I assume it's RFI into the headset. I had a similar issue on analog VHF, but a couple of ferrites clipped on to the speaker lead cured that. I'm assuming that shielding is one of the things you give up when you get something at this price point vs the professional gear. I'm OK with that as the noise is only on transmit, does not affect outgoing audio, and I can turn down the volume on the headset if it starts to bother me. I would give this a 4.5/5 for now pending testing at an actual public service event. The transmit RFI noise is annoying but not a deal breaker. I believe your vx6-r PTT would have to be non-amplified to work with these headset/adapters.

I have a set of 3m peltors with no coms. They are mostly handouts now. I do however want a set to attach to my bump helmet. The impact setup looks good to go. I think the walkers setup would interfere with the attachment to the helmet.

I definitely can see the top/bottom clamp system of the Walkers being a problem with an ATE type helmet. It's just too bulky. The Impacts and the headset kit for them are, by far, the superior set up.

@KS6DAY I ordered this, I’m very pleased! But I’m wondering if there are any aftermarket PTTs that will work with this unit? I have a CodeRed throat mic with NATO plug hooked to an amplified NX Dual Comm PTT and it does not work with this headset.

The U94 PTT's that are sold by this vendor on Amazon www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B3J6HS18/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 are very good. I bought one of their M1 plug variants to use with my Yaesu FT-65 and it turned out to be much better than the ones that come with the headset kit.

They sell a replacement boom mic that is Dynamic so you can use amplified or non amplified PTT by swapping the boom mic.

Not yet. But I'm working on it. Fortunately, the FT-65 utilizes a Motorola M plug and I know those are available. I should have news within a week or so.
