for Rousseau, it was opera; for Nietzsche it was tragedy.... for modern Americans, erm NFL? NBA? ...... it is how we share emotions in public, which creates feelings of bonding. public executions would do it too, i suppose, but we probably mostly use sports now for a reason

Was he ever really aware of it, though? His dementia had to have been pretty severe by 2003. I’d like to believe that he never had any true awareness of what happened to his brothers in arms. Totally unrelated, but was Bush 1 the last president we had who served honorably? I don’t know if Biden served, but neither Obama nor Clinton served, and Bush 2 may have served, but it certainly wasn’t “honorably” 😂😂😂. I didn’t realize how long it had been since we’ve had a Commander in Chief who had actual military experience.

Elizabeth Bathory wasn’t born of incest. Her parents were from two different branches of the family that had split 300 years prior. So they were like fourth cousins. I think I heard about the Soviet island. The people all starved because they only had flour and water and not yeast to bake it so they died from starvation and the flour gave them diarrhea or something.
