Question: In 47:12 the barbarians loose 2 men and the auxillia none - shouldn't it be a withdrawl (and does it mean a force morale test?) for the barbarians?
@Edward-Plantagenet2 жыл бұрын
Really like the look of this game. Be great to see a game being played with a more complete force for each side involving cavalry, chariots and various characters / specialists etc including Optio, Musicians etc, anything that adds even more character to the opposing armies.

Great as always. It seems like the longer the games go, the better the Romans tend to fare. Barbarians really need those overwhelming early game wins that they weren't quite able to get here.
@N51Sierra2 жыл бұрын
Funny enough I felt barbarians contrived and overpowered.
@ADHDlanguages2 жыл бұрын
@@N51Sierra I think that's intentional. Barbarians winning should feel sudden, horrifying, and unfair. Only when the Romans can withstand the initial insanity do they have a chance, but like I said, the longer they stretch it out, the better the chance they have. All my humble opinion of course :)
@N51Sierra2 жыл бұрын
I guess I could completely agree it is intentional. But there are too much advantages for the barbarian side. Too much ambush points, frenzied mobs deployment advantages and consider not just all those bonus but how fervour could be replenished. Sure you could still win with romans but game is most like an Asterix and Obelix or "always Teutoburg" depiction
@simonnorburn35184 жыл бұрын
Hi - about 1:28 the Romans use all of their dice offensively; I thought that as they were in close order they would have to use at least half defensively?
@toofatlardies4 жыл бұрын
Simon Norburn absolutely correct. Total cock up. That said, the Romans can break out of close order unto open order at any time they are activated.

So concerning shooting you may shoot from say wooded area any depth within as long in range ?
@toofatlardies3 жыл бұрын
You need to take into account visibility within or into woods. You can’t shoot beyond that as you can’t see the target.

Do love the idea of commander traits, and it was something I baked into a small project of making a miniature wargames scenario around the first battle of Fallujah. You'd give the orders as the platoon leader, but the execution and reaction of the sections were both dependent on the section leaders' traits and how they perceived the terrain, and their disposition could change during the battle depending on their experiences. Maybe I should make it a full reality, and maybe develop the rules for the OPFOR (which was basically AI driven) so it can be an assymetric two-player game...

Well done Richard, entertaining and informative. I wonder, is it possible to clarify the melee where the centurion orders the legion unit that had fallen back to assist his remaining legion group combatting the nobles by moving forwards. It seemed that this flank attack reignited all the groups. Does this mean when there are units fighting to the front and flank they are not just supporting but get their full combat dice?
@toofatlardies4 жыл бұрын
Sean Pratt if that are in contact then they fight. So in that situation the two Roman groups were in contact to the front and flank, so they both fight with their full combat dice.

Hello again can you enter a combat whilst holding shock ? Also can skirmishers shoot from terrain or any troops for that matter ??
@toofatlardies3 жыл бұрын
Yes to both. Shock reduces the speed and combat effectiveness of troops, but it doesn’t stop them doing anything.

So there is no reaction moves only evade. You have to pre empt an opponents options and make precautions ? Accordingly for example can you put up shields in the same moment you are shot at. I have the rule book by the way cant see it yet.

Richard, I know you're handsome, but please edit so that while you are talking about tactics during the game while pointing at the table a lot we need to see the table also! A longer shot showing both you and the table is better. Thanks for the videos, I'm certainly interested in Infamy, Infamy.

First game of Infamy. I played the Turncoat card when my stand of Med Cav was met by a stand of Roman Med Cav. The card says "A former enemy joins your cause and boosts the morale of your men". And "This card allows a player to avoid taking a force Morale test". I considered that if I play this card, the enemy becomes a "turncoat" - as per the very title of the card - and joins my side AND (if appropriate) I don't have to take a Force Morale Test. Opponent did not agree. He said the card only allowed the player to not take a Force Morale Test. But then why call it a "TURNCOAT" card? Opponent said it was the way the card was written. We agreed to email you for your intention when you put it together. What does the card enable the user to do - switch an enemy unit, not take a test or both?
@toofatlardies3 жыл бұрын
Nobody joins your force. You simply avoid a Force Morale Test. All the cards have names taken from classical literature, but the effect is as described on the card, nothing more.
@martingomez48763 жыл бұрын
@@toofatlardies Hi, MANY many thanks for taking the trouble to reply. Just to clarify, the first sentence is the definition of a "Turncoat" and has NOTHING to do with the card's object. Is that correct? If so, may I please dare to suggest that when you do a reprint, the first sentence is put in brackets and lower case, then the intention will be clearer. PS Does this apply to all the cards as us newbees may be prone to take your wording literally - as I did !!

Too much byased and unbalanced towards barbarians
@toofatlardies2 жыл бұрын
I’d disagree. We find that players on both sides feel equally under pressure. Both sides have strengths; both sides have weaknesses. It’s up to the players to identify those and command their force accordingly
@N51Sierra2 жыл бұрын
@@toofatlardies But of course, both sides have their strenghts and weaknesses. Sorry they are not balanced. - Even if romans effectively counter ambush points the ambush is still there. 6 ambush points is too much. - Considering the heavy use of funditores by romans Why imperial romans do not have slingers? - Fervour bonus are too high and can be replenished as easy when the unit has been routed. - Fanatics to be elite? - Controlled frenzied mobs? Please, barbarians display too much advantage
