I am a sucker for Hk 416's - dream gun that is probably out of reach is an Hk G28 clone
@darklyripley61388 ай бұрын
I carried HK416’s while overseas. I want to clone one of the rifles I had, but can’t afford it. The handguard alone that I had is $400. HK doesn’t make it easy to clone either.

I’m loosely building that I dunno how far the rabbit hole I want to go. I have a mr762 with the g28 rail (however it is black) and a slim stock. Personally I was thinking to paint it different colors and ignore the markings but pick up the correct stuff for it.

I'm working on a clone of Steyr AUG A3SF that is used by the Austrian Jagdkommando Unit.

The bump rivet looks fishy on that ak12. One famous builder was taking the front stub from Ak 12 kit, removing the remaining stamping from the trunnion and would keep the original bump rivet. They would then grind down the head of the rivet in order to slide into a new US receiver where a fake cosmetic rivet would be placed over it. This obviously isn't the best and one user on reddit had it fail.

My god I didn’t know Christian’s paint job was done by using a laundry bag (we call them doeby bags ) now I look at it I see it
@M--GT822329 күн бұрын
That's pretty common to use a laundry bag. I've used one in addition to "onion net bags" that I like better

@ I was not allowed to paint my rifle when I was in the army not a chance would they let us loose with spray cans and a laundry bag

@MrTangolizard Same for me-- I served at the tail end of the cold war. And when we "went to the field" in the German Black Forest (to train for the possibility of a Soviet invasion), two things would constantly go through my mind: 1) how noisy our LBE gear was in a "tactical environment" (a problem now largely solved by MOLLE and items like Magpul mags); and 2) how shiny the plastic and metal parts were on my issued A2 (now solved by spray paint)

@@M--GT8223 apparently there was a conversation overheard on the radio where u.s forces were operating in the it was either the jungle of some other heavily wooded area and the conversation went something like (enemy to other enemy person on radio) we can’t see them they heavily camouflage themself reply on the radio look for there rifles, so yes rifles stand out apparently the SF troops from then in that unit painted there rifles I heard it on some pod cast so your correct rifles stand out
@M--GT822329 күн бұрын
@MrTangolizard You're right-- except it was some Afghani bad guys overheard asking their commander that during the GWOT. And then? *Poof! Just like that, the good guys' weapons started appearing with tan camo and it helped the situation, somewhat. I took that to heart, and now paint all my "minute man" weapons in the colors of my local environment
