Madonna was the biggest music star on the planet in 1992. She just scored her 10th no.1 hit single with this used to be my playground but then a 2 months later erotica came out. Was top 10 single worldwide but the backlash she got and she lost a lot of her younger fan base during this period. The gay community stuck by her tho. But today critics have said now that the erotica album is a masterpiece. The album is now in the rock and roll hall of fame along with like a prayer and ray of light albums

Madonna pushed the boundaries like no other artist in the 90s. She got people talking abd thats the point, why be so hung up and shy about sex? She gave us liberation and most of us enjoy sex or even better, making love and like M says, anything goes within reason, and as long as its legal, explore, explore. M is legendary and she proves this still on her celebration tour which i was lucky enough to go and see at London O2 area. Parts of the show were beyond awesome.

The best Madonna time period for me - except for her choice of the gold tooth. Human Nature is one of my favorite videos from this time. The SEX book was completely uncensored - I keep a copy with other art books, and a second one still sealed in the original foil with the CD inside. My own image from 1994 is retained in a lithograph and archived in a California art museum - alternative collection. No lie - Google images: Mr New England Drummer (1994 is me) and usually the first image shown.

Haha, Erotica was a whole trip when it came out :D A lot of the gritty video is from behind the scenes of making the Sex book, that was sold at the same time as the album. It was in a silvery envelope with a gold X and around here it was kept under the counter in the music store :P Did you spot Naomi Campbell, Isabella Rosselini and other big names? Lots of people were in it. The album isn't really as racy as this, but it deals with emotional extremes, I guess you could say. Lust, love, grief, heartbreak, anger and all the good stuff. I had so much fun watching your reaction :D
