There is a mechanic used in bubble shields, that exists solely to disincentivize crossing its thin boundary, and its name is shield interference. Cross the wall, and if you are enemy to shield's owner, you will be dealt shield damage and recharge debuff proportional to bubble shield strength and class-determined drop factor. Seeming artificial or no, it does work as advertised, providing danger to enemy ships it aims to protect against. Of course, carriers having a bubble option with superior mobility of warp drives and freedom of flight, there are bound to be some edge cases.
Like the offensive shield-stripping carrier, for example. For minimal drain but significant risk, carrier can fly past enemy ships to leave them without their shields and to make them exposed to dangerous crossfire. They have crossed the boundary, after all. This gives the carrier a potential weapon system, that can be used as ambush, or opener in some attack tactic, or in defense when someone managed to get too close for comfort.
Requires intermediate to advanced flying skills. Let the undressing begin.
